I don't fault Arteta for wanting to keep a stable line-up while we've been eking out results since our horror start to the season, against the backdrop of a rapidly changing roster. I don't fault him much for losing at Anfield either, though the manner of the loss wasn't acceptable.

But the current settings won't lead to adequate squad management with few secondary competitions and the inevitability of injuries over time. Saturday's loss showed little backing for our second string forwards even though surely at least one of them must be fit to achieve something in this league.

If Arteta's worth his salt, it's now time to change things up a bit at the same time as consolidating our improved form. We'll be playing two matches a week for a while even if our next non-PL tie isn't till just about Christmas.

In a season out of Europe, the question of "what can we get for Pépé?" isn't too different from "when are we going to select Pépé?" Give him minutes and history shows he can produce numbers and restore a fraction of his fee to his value in the market.

Anyway as Jones says there is a rewriting of history with Pepe. When he gets games he produces goals and assists, people don't seem to want to count them though because they don't like his first touch or something.

Just because you can spend money without selling doesn't mean it's a good idea though. Pepe is about to turn 27 and go into the last 2 years of his deal, it's either time to sell and reinvest or commit to him. There's isn't really room for another winger of his profile in the picture.

Ah yes, I misread, I thought you meant sell him and use the money to buy a striker. But if he were to be sold and replaced with a winger in the 22-24 age range then that would make sense.

Eddie is the best fit for the team when Auba is gone, it makes no sense to have him at the club for the season if we are just going to sit him down until his deals up. We had chances to sell last summer and didn't.

Several Bundesliga clubs ie Leverkusen Gladbach and Frankfurt have apparently contacted him, if he leaves it should be to one of them not to a relegation battling Palace. He's talented enough to carve out a good career for himself, at least as good as that donkey Abraham.

I think the story was they were not getting anywhere with Eddie/his agent so just got Edouard instead. Probably they fancied a bigger move on a free.

Although to the Athletic he won't go on a free and it will go to tribunal (assuming he doesn't leave in Jan), which means we can get anything as low as £500k to as high as £10m.

10m is peanuts for him. I remember one of the January windows we rejected a 20m bid from West Ham or Brighton and people here complained 20m is too little

No way anyone offered 20m for Eddie.

We've badly managed Nketiah, should have given him a new deal and loaned him out last summer when Lacazette ended up staying. Tammy went on 3 loans, two of which were 25+ goal seasons. Eddie had 6 months on the bench for Leeds and a bunch of time not playing at all.

We're doing the same with Martinelli now by rulling out loans but not giving him material game time. Not worried yet but something needs to change with him one way or the other. Same goes for Balogun.

Your vision goes worldwide and gender-wide by the looks of it mentalvortex! Its irks me that Pablo's last appearance is him getting outwitted and outmuscled by Lukaku. Would like to see him starting the QF against Sunderland. Overall, yeah he needs to start games and that may have to be elsewhere. His potential departure could increase Saliba's worth to Arsenal just that bit more? Understand he does a good job at LCB if needed.

Saliba is RCB under Arteta's rules. We will just sign another LCB or use Kolasinac.

Personally wouldn’t mind seeing a back 3 of Saliba-White-Gabriel with Chambers-Holding-Mari as cover.

That's one CB too many in my opinion. If we're playing three then two of the backups plus Tomiyasu who can step in is enough.

Luiz mostly played on the left, often over actual left footers. I don't think it's as rigid a rule as people make out.

Luiz is equally good with both feet, and he's literally the only one example we have that has broke that rigid rule when we had a CB crisis.
