In happier news, reports coming in that Betis can't afford to match our asking price for Bellerin so they will do a loan with no obligation to buy. Next year when Bellerin's contract runs down to the last year they will try to buy him again if he does well. Bellerin taking a big paycut to join them as he is desperate to leave the current malaise.

Maitland Niles was an absolute numpty with that cry for help. Needs disciplining and cost Arsenal leverage. No matter the incompetence of the club in his development. However, Arteta's brandished the stick too much in his tenure, and he may soon lose his dressing room if he hasn't already.

It's up to the club and Edu to manage that situation though, keep the player involved, talk to him and make sure he's on board. Not playing someone and then unilaterally deciding he's going to stay in his prison is obviously going to result in an adverse reaction.

AMN shouldn't have gone public with his frustration but banishing players is becoming a bit common. It just isn't Arsenal. I don't like it at all.

If the case is that Maitland was happy to play fullback, then I don't blame him at all. He played well enough there to get an england call-up and is looking around at players go past him who he probably thinks he is at least equal to, while he basically got dropped for no identifiable footballing reason.

All he said was I want to go where I'm wanted and where I'll play. It's not exactly the worst thing in the world.

This ultra disciplinarian school teacher act just doesn't work. Young players need counselling and help not banishment. What are we being turned into. I don't think this has the best effect on the young players growing up in the academy or looking at Arsenal.

He's a transfer in waiting so maybe its not about admonishment as it is just about being at a layover with the junior team. I reckon he leaves by end of day.
