I am not very enthralled about a Partey Bissouma midfield myself. I see Bissouma as great back up for Partey, not his partner. I would like to see more flair and technique next to Partey. We need to replace Lacazette and I am not sure there is a ready made top class prospect available. We either add more technique up top or at the Base of midfield. I just think there will be more options for midfield than up front.

Partey absolutely is an elite ball-winner. He's arguably the best on earth when it comes to his technique in the tackle. Bissouma running about kicking people isn't a patch on Tom.

Yep. Partey is one of the best tacklers I have seen in modern football. Bissouma is not a patch on him.

I am with Rohit, I want to see a more technical, a smart DLP beside Partey. They combination would be deadly. Bissouma ideally is a squad option for a top club. If we like a proper B2B CM beside Partey that scores more regularly we might as well have went for Doucoure, more dynamic.

"FotoSpor (via Sport Witness) claims Fenerbahce chiefs are travelling to London on Tuesday to speak with Arsenal over a possible deal for Ozil.

The Turkish website reckons that Ozil wants the Gunners to pay him a severance package worth €10m that is owed to him for the remainder of his contract, with the German wanting it ‘paid in two years’.

However, it is understood that Arsenal are requesting the same amount from Ozil for the last six months he has remained at the club and not played.

The report concludes by saying: ‘The 20 million euro difference between the requests of the two parties prevents Mesut from leaving London.’"

and still over 100m if the likes of Ozil, Sokratis, Mustafi depart as free agents at the end of the season along with Luiz, and Ceballos returns to RM.
Importantly it does not include the likes of Guendouzi, Elneny, Xhaka or Lacazette who would take the revenue potential over 150m+.

Whilst these potential revenues are encouraging in terms of the potential rebuild, it also explains as to why KSE will be reluctant to provide any additional funds towards player transfers. However my concern is the potential damage to the team and the size of the rebuild required if we are unable to improve the team to salvage UEFA football for next season.

Further to this my greater concern is our continued inability to get players out the door, and the potential implications based upon financial requirements to raise revenues - particularly in regards to being able to retain the likes of Saka, Martinelli and Tierney if the Elite clubs look to make an offer the club or players cannot resist if we are still languishing in mid-table with a squad that is still not 'fit for purpose'.

Who is going to buy Pepe for 36 million when he has scored 2 more goals than Nketiah in the last 18 months? Who is going to pay 25 million for Torreira when we couldn't even get a loan fee for him last summer, never mind selling him outright?

Players don't have defined values until you sell them, and you're not going to sell many in this market. We have like 32 first team players and yet we could only sell Martinez last summer, and it wasn't for a lack of trying. Clubs have it even tougher financially now and we might see another suspension of the league if covid doesn't let up.

I don't disagree but for me this is the failure of last summer = the inability to shift players when needed before the situation continued to deteriorate in terms of market values. IMO that failure is as big a cluster fuck as anything these last 5 seasons, and indicates for me that the club still has as much work to do off the pitch as on it in terms of improvements required.

There's also a difference between trying and being effective, or even having the required appetite and/or determination to 'just do it'. I have no doubt they wanted to shift players out, but I question the determination to do so as I suspect the club / KSE wanted/wants some transfer value.
As it stands I doubt they will achieve either the clear out they desire or receive/prevent any further loss of revenues. All of the players who are free agents at the end of this season (and are eating up wages), are still at the club currently despite 2 of them not having been registered to play this season - its self an issue resulting from the failure of the summer that will have impacted on player values.

Worst case even had we essentially let players go as free agents 12 months early we potentially then 'save' on a full season of wages to lower our bloated wages and operating costs in relation to the ongoing lack of match day revenues.

If you decide to sell the players this summer because they do not fit a clearly defined squad building plan, then sell them for the best possible market prices you can create. But don’t hold onto them for another few years hoping the market will bounce back. If the value of players you’re selling goes down, guess what, the price of players you’re buying is also going down. As long as your forward planning makes sense and you can replace the players, execute.

The worst thing you can do is hold on to players too long. It’s an Arsenal affliction. We treat these players like wives. They’re contractors who help us win trophies. Always be looking to assemble the best possible combination. And don’t fall in love

I'm surprised not the be hearing anything at all with regards to loaning the kids out.

Nelson has played 50 mins over the last couple of months and is probably our 6th choice winger as things stand, Eddie has played 10 mins out of the last 6 games or something, Willock is getting a few mins in the FA Cup.

Arteta can't keep a hold of these guys in case of the worst injury crisis. We need to be arranging loans for these guys, it's irresponsible to do otherwise.

I hear you but would say theres a lot of time left. Could be loan arrangements are being organized and move through once intended plans for the first team are determined. Medley and Coyle have been recalled so do agree theres a lot of housekeeping to be done on that front.

None of the creative targets we have been linked to are available, want to come in Jan, or prefer to go elsewhere. As such we may be delaying making a decision to loan out the likes of Willock & Nelson as they may be needed to cover ESR?

They are more legs than actual quality. I'd rather rotate another player in to that role than either of them. Willock is a waste of space in a 10 role. Who knows what's going on with Nelson.

Even if we don't bring anyone in they should go out. Nelson is probably our 5th/6th choice winger right now, Willock is getting charity mins. Eddie is a 3rd choice striker.

If we even want these guys to make it, or if we want to sell them for decent money, they need games and a chance to show what they can do.
