IMO if we fail to purge as needed then equally the rebuild doesn't take place as needed, and the team remains unbalanced and not fit for purpose because the starting midfield and attack will be the same as last season and with the same issues. Playing a higher line will improve things but not in terms of key roles, which defeats the purpose of trying to hit the ground running and we can kiss goodbye to any notion of challenging for top4.
Plus we need Hector in case the three others in that position get injured.
What the fuck is wrong with this club, “We need to be ruthless”? Fuck off.
Anyway, I’ll reserve judgement until it all pans out. Hopefully it’s some clever, clever game.
when i think about arsenal, i definitely think about clever executives playing 5 degree chess....
All we need now is Ramsdale for £30m and Arteta's dreams can come true. Let's fucking get it.
What’s the point anymore? You just have to laugh really. We should extend Elneny and Kolasinac as well. Why not bring back Mustafi too? He’s a free agent and needs a club (they tried extending him too).

And I thought they cannot disappoint us more.
Can only judge at the end of the window but chances of them fucking up is really high now

Yeah I don't stress over these things anymore bro. Let them buy whoever they want to buy and keep whoever they want to keep. Whether I like it or not, at the end of the day I'll still end up watching when the games resume.

I still think he's potentially our best player there, just needs to get his head in the right place. Certainly has the highest ceiling of our RBs. Its a bit of a tallest dwarf competition at RB though. He's also younger than 2 of the other options.
Some Twitter talk that we have agreed to a 25M deal with Newcastle for Willock, but he is considering whether or not to move there. I'd say we should get 30M for him, but 25's not a million miles away with the right sell-on / buyback clauses.
If that's the case then we are really badly trying to raise funds for Maddison it seems
selling willock to fund maddison would be another sketchy move, and put to bed the line of thinking that the kroenkes have magicked up a monster war chest to spend on top of the 50m we spent on white.
The papers have been chatting about a fantasy warchest for donkeys years. It's never existed. Probably best to work on the presumption we don't have one.
We are racking up a lot of debt, that'll limit future spending.
no, people genuinely believed there MUST be a warchest to justify that the outlay on white wouldn't present an obstacle for the rest of our transfer dealings. occams razor - the brains trust have ploughed money into the wrong area of the pitch, and will be forced to cut corners between now and the end of august (see xhaka renewal as evidence of this)
£25M for Willock is good business in isolation, unfortunately we will fuck up the spending of that money.
it's not even about the price for me. selling willock while simultaneously renewing xhaka, while we have to so much other dreck on the books, to fund someone who I'm not entirely convinced about in maddison - it's just throwing up yet more red flags about how the club is being run

We're talking about Maddison for £70m and the likes of fucking Ramsdale for, a £20m backup keeper. Then you have the Lautaro/Tammy rumours too. It's not really the moves of a club without money to spend.
My guess is in addition to whatever they've budgeted to spend from the clubs funds, they've budgeted a further amount from player sales. The problem is there's 3 weeks to go and we've sold no one of note.

I agree. Selling Willock for £25m to buy players I never thought we needed in the first place would be infuriating. Arteta staying is annoying but him sabotaging us for the future is even worse.
Fenerbahçe want to sign Sead Kolašinac but only on a FREE transfer. They would need Arsenal to terminate his current deal first.[@fanatikcomtr].
Kolasinac is an amazing case for me. We got a 24 year old left back. Part of the team of the year from Bundesliga - for free. What can go wrong right? If he can't adapt we can move him on as he is highly rated in Germany, loved by Schalke - for some reason. He starts out pretty well... And now here we are, we cannot even break even with him 😆 , we literally will take a hit on a free transfer. We have to pay him to fuck off, this after paying his wages for a while so he can play for Schalke, and for about 2 years to do nothing over here but drop a few 0/10 performances from time to time.

Starting to genuinely hate him now.
