Salzburg play that way regardless of their coach because of their academy setup. Not saying Marsh couldn't be a talented coach mind.
I'd go for Rangnick. Dickhead that he is he probably has the highest chance of turning this shit around
I’ve read lots about the good job he did at the Red Bull clubs but have heard a few people say he can be difficult. Why do you think he is a dickhead?
Also would he better as the coach or higher up?
He's very arrogant. Not for no reason I guess but he's a bit insufferable in interviews, at least in Germany he used to be. He's also a mercenary who'll sign for anyone willing to indulge him and he has a history of publicly clashing with his higher ups and sometimes even fans although the latter happened ages ago.
That said he's without peer as an English style manager in Germany, probably the closest thing you could get to a modern Wenger. He's responsible for the rise of three clubs from basically nothing (except boatloads of cash obviously) to European relevancy in Hoffenheim, Leipzig and Salzburg. The latter two are well documented, he signed players like Mane, Kimmich or Werner for them when they were kids plus all the other guys still at those clubs and forged coaches like Hasenhüttl, Rose, Nagelsmann, Schmidt etc. But his work at Hoffenheim was equally impressive, except for Ibisevic and Luiz Gustavo barely anyone of the players back then did anything elsewhere but they were seriously impressive and went from 4th tier to top of the Bundesliga in about four years.
I think our most pressing need is actually capable backroom staff. Arteta has brought a bunch of fucking morons with him and the few capable guys we had post Wenger seemed to have left with Emery. Even the situation with our goalkeeping coach after the horror years of Peyton seems to have nosedived again looking at our backup, and I'm still not sure if we have kept the better keeper last summer. Rangnick would fix most our issues at once, he probably has his own entourage but even if he didn't he'd know who to bring in unlike our current boss. He'd also bring in a capable new manager when he can't be bothered to coach anymore, seeing how he's 62 and suffered from burnout almost ten years ago he'd probably give it a year or two before he starts grooming his successor as DoF.
More I think about it the more it makes sense, he's the only guy who'd fix all our lack of expertise issues all at once. Of course a decision like that would have to be made from above Edu which means it'll never happen.
