Who would you get to replace Arteta?

Chelsea had a rookie coach in charge and were struggling to find momentum last year and saw the writing on the wall and it's totally changed them. I don't think arsenal are going to become European champions by changing coach but I think they're is a similar situation with an inexperienced coach limiting what the team is producing.

Whilst he is a winning manager I'd prefer to see vibrant attacking football with goals.

You get a coach like Conte when you're in sight of major honours but things aren't quite adding up. Success at Arsenal is barely a larval concept at the moment.

That's what he did at Inter but I'm not even sure it's true for Chelsea who were in quite the funk themselves when he took over from Mourinho. Its definitely not true for when he went from Siena to Juve and took them from 7th to 1st.

I'd have some reservations because of his lack of trust in youth but to be fair he did give Pogba his first starts, at Inter he also gave Bastoni his debut and immediately started Barella or Sensi. He's not exactly great at squad building but he's one of the greatest ever at extracting maximum value out of some average players. Ideally he'd have a headstrong DoF by his side but anything is better than the chuckleheads we have in charge now.

Would be poetic in a way. First he wins trophies galore with Juve then the league with Chelsea, then he breaks Juves dominance with Inter now he breaks Chelsea with us. Would be only fair too, we got Chelsea on track to win their league in 16/17 with our thumping of them then we put them on track to win the CL last season by getting Lampard the sack. Time for them to repay the favour

You can plan for long term, but first you have to win short term. Otherwise the plan will never work

The point is working with Conte might hurt you long term but it'll lead to short term gains at least. Working with Arteta will hurt you full stop

we have some pieces that would fit his 352 but some players would be on the outs. pepe, odegaard, ESR, saka - there would be some blood sacrifices there if conte came in imo

Conte played 3-4-3 often in the past, very often when he was at Chelsea and at Inter when he started using Eriksen more he switched as well. Not like he's never deviated from the 3-5-2 anyway I remember a couple of 4-3-3 games even (that game at Juve vs Madrid when Vidal kicked the ground and wanted a foul many years ago come to mind)

We need to move beyond the idea of having a medium to long term manager. We should be set up in a way that a 2 contract manager is a bonus.

I think that's a hasty response to what was always going to be two losses out of three at best at the start of this season.

We're in a rebuilding phase, we need a resurrection not a defibrillation.

We're supposed to be in a rebuilding phase, we're actually still destroying more and more of the fundament. If it looked like Arteta was doing anything worthwhile then yeah, stick with him. However our performances serve only to lower morale and destroy confidence - why stick with the root cause until a point of no return with some of our players is reached?

Its a response not to 2 matches but to 80+ matches. We can't have a good rebuild with someone who isn't up to the job.

When have any of the top clubs fallen away like we have and ended up back in the mix without making significant changes beyond the playing staff? To think Edu and Arteta are going to eventually make this work if we give them time is magical thinking.

I didn't say Arteta shouldn't go. I said that likelihood of getting an instant and sustained boost from a new manager isn't there and isn't fully plausible due to our overall issues. With reference to a specific replacement, Conte.

We all know he'd be dissatisfied with the backing he got over time and leave, given I don't think we'll be near anything in the next two seasons I can't see it as the best option.

I think most managers would be satisfied with the sort of backing we've given over the last few seasons. Whatever else our transfer spending is right up there.

He won't be attainable now.

Apparently Conte has been sounded out and the response was not encouraging to say the least.

Who is actually available?
IF we are going to approach a manager currently at a club should we look for EPL experience?
Should we be looking for someone to continue the development of younger players?
OR is it simply a case of getting the team and football 'right' in the first instance so as to regain UEFA qualification, and anything else is a bonus rather than a priority?

We have reached a point where any one year caretaker would be largely better than the current sunday league coach we have. Sack the fraud, even if we cannot land a top tier manager this season.

Pretty sure both Potter and even Rodgers would take the job. I’d be surprised if Ten Hag turned us down too. Whether any or all of these guys would move mid season is another question.
