We are still looking to find our identity under Arteta after almost a year. I think we need to firstly decide on a settled starting lineup. Pepe missing 3 match is annoying but Nelson need to take his chances now.

Ironically last night we probably have the most clear cut chances we created for awhile.

That was down to the Gabriel, Tierney, Saka, Aubameyang left side of the field. The ball flows where the quality is. It finds the good players. They move well with it, and off it present themselves for passes. Saka is the best in the team in both regards. He’s impossible to mark because he’s unpredictable for a defender.

IMO his time at both RM and the national team are irrelevant to his current performances and stats in terms of his effectiveness the further he is from 'the hole'/zone14. Same applies in terms of his career & performances here, and even more so that he no longer has the players around him at the level of performance capability to provide him with the movement required - there is no one making the movement off the ball.
Is he an elite level attacking playmaker? = yes. Is he a specialist = yes. Is he worth the effort & disruption required for the last 6 months on his contract? = no. Is he going to be given another contract at this club to make that ongoing disruption/investment worthwhile? = no. If the answer to any of these last 2 is yes then the club needs to tell this to the manager and/or replace him accordingly.

He's not exclusively a riquelme style 10.

We need to figure out how we want to play and then give it time. We have people after one match saying that "see, you got what you want and it still didn't work". We'll never progress if we go back into the shell after one match of something not working.

Agreed with this and the time frame that it stretches back to AW's later years, and not just Emery and Arteta.

It could be worse = MU still don't have an identity post SAF and are less closer to having any idea than we are.
Likewise I don't think LFC had any real identity other than past glory from post Rafa to Klopp.

Didn't mean identical, just that he is similarly limited to a single position and role and cannot adapt at this point of his career.

Agreed with this, but I think part of the core issue is what we are seeing does not match our expectation after what Arteta has been quoted as describing his preferred style of football, unless he is talking of his version of death by tiki-taka.

I can't take this kind of thing seriously at all. The red card was idiotic, other than that he was our best attacker until Saka came on. Its not the highest bar but when the whole attack is failing singling out the best of them is a bit weird.

This is the reality of Ozil. He was creating fuck all in terms of good chances when Arteta was playing him, he's offered nothing worth talking about for years now. 2016 was a long time ago.

I think the comment is perhaps born out of general frustration with everything atm.

He doesn't fit the current formation, tactic, team or manager = he no longer fits at the club regardless of any other perceived agenda/s.
