Elneny is a predictable force, durable, evidently happy not to be first choice and at least dependable when called upon if limited, not arrogant or demanding, not a bad player to have around. I don't think signing him up again signals there's no plan to improve on the midfield in summer, but it seems a relatively wise move if we're advancing as a club, especially if we're fighting across bigger competitions next season.
