I think he looks better when he's able to take players on early through the middle of the pitch like we saw him do v LFC when he joined, and again v CFC in the latter stages of The FA Cup Final. I think he likes to be able to isolate defenders and take them on 1v1 with freedom to move.

Perhaps we should consider keeping him up top rather than Laca when we look to play our mid-block 442, nwhich may then encourage the midfield to look to play the ball into space rather than looking for Laca as the target to hold up play back to goal?

This is the start of his second season in a new league, his first season he's seen three managers, injuries and overall stop start appearances. Really don't get this "if he doesn't produce by the end we should sell" stuff written in every thread, why not post it at the end of the season? Would be just as pointless as "if he starts producing by the end of the season we should extend".

He completely saved us against Sheff Utd a game ago too. He wasn't even bad against City, gave Auba that chance he should've scored. If Ozil played that pass people would use to justify calling for him in the squad for the next 2 months.

People are frustrated with Pepe because on paper he is/was our only hope for "dribbling"/beating players one on one - but he doesn't even seem to be at all in control of that.

He's capable of magic but his fundamentals are not there.

He out performed the other 'Golden Option' = Zaha, and I'm thankful for whomever vetoed that transfer option.

Which makes him all the more unpredictable for both team and opposition, and possibly himself.
Thing is if we think he is a genuine talent and potential game changer, then at the end of the day you enable him to do what it is he does if the outcome is positive more than not.

Not really representative but Willian was beyond bad. Every touch was off and lazy as hell. Never ran with the ball with any conviction, on or off.

I think we are undervaluing the performance and are disappointed because we didn't get any points from it when we were expecting to do so. The fact we did expect to take points is testament to the job Arteta has done and the strides made in improvement.
IMO it is significant that Guardiola changed his starting formation and tactics to counter our patterns and PEA = I do not recall him doing so against us previously since he joined MC.
