It absolutely should not be a focus area imo. We have two RBs who are good enough.

We will probably extend Lacazette for 4 years at 150k per week. He can take over a portion of Ozil's evaporating wage bill.

Just dump Lacazette. We need to dump salaries. And make space for kids. Let Nketiah, Willock, Nelson sink or swim. They’ll end the season much more experienced and much more valuable. We can sell the ones that aren’t in the plans. And hero grooming the ones who are. But playing Lacazette and Willian and sitting the kids does nothing to build future value of any kind.

To be fair, when Claud mentioned about the importance of building squad value to move forward and be a big club again majority here wanted to keep Lacazette and let him leave on a free next year. Now it's beyond stupid. The guy decline is massive. We need to start giving chances to Balogun soon. Nothing will be as bad as Lacazette. He has reached the Ozil level of useless these days.

I don't buy it. A broke Italian team who spent all summer negotiating a 10m deal for Smalling made a 'substantial bid' for Laca? If there's any truth in it at all my guess is it would have been a loan with a small option to buy type deal.

I'd have taken anything at this point mind you.

Well we need to start making sales and not loans. Obviously Ornstein is dodgy these days but there were no signs we made any real push to sell Laca when we really should have. There is so much dead wood at the club. Its really frustrating that Arteta and Edu have added more too.

They needed a striker badly after 30m euros Milik deal collapsed. And Milik is in the same situation as Laca, 1 year contract left.

Orny might be dodgy but he still have decent sources. He got the deadline day details of Partey right over Romano

Even a 15-20 million outlay is substantial for Roma.

There was an excellent thread by Swiss Ramble on how financial precarious situation they are in.

Mind you I would have bitten their hand off for that money for Lacazette.

The part in bold was likely key as it would mean we had no chance to replace him from the market, whereas I think we would have accepted the offer had it been made earlier.
Will be interesting to see if Roma come back in Jan or if we suggested they do so.
