Unless he thinks Saliba isn't good enough, in which case he should look to sell and replace him. We can't have a CB we have invested £25m on being sent out on loan / sitting in the reserves until his contract expires, we aren't Man City.

Agreed completely on that.

If Saliba is not someone who our manager seems to rate/like, sell him now so that we can recoup some of that 25 million.

This is starting to rival Chu-Young Park as the most enigmatic signing

Well I think he was signed under previous management, similar to Pepe, and I think this is Arteta trying to "stamp his authority" at the detriment of the club. He did it with Pepe too but backed him in the end.

What? that's an absurd and unrealistic thought. If Saliba was any good Arteta would have immediately used him

Fans need to be realistic and accept we bought a temporary dud, someone that's not ready and our scouts fucked up with it. We like to make excuses for failings here but it's pretty obvious for this case

Hang on, am I the only one who gets the impression that Arteta is trying to protect Saliba and that this has nothing to do with ability? There's a really toxic narrative that's forming saying that he's a dud or that Arteta doesn't trust him when all we actually know about him does not suggest that.

He was good enough for St. Etiene to want to bring him back for the cup final and for this season. At the same time, his mum has recently died (so he's now parent-less), living in a foreign country and his manager has indicated he wants to protect him from the hype. Given we've got people like Mertesacker in our youth set-up who's put major emphasis on the pastoral support players have at a young age, is it not more likely that we don't want to throw him into a pressure cooker when he needs a chance to grieve? It would make sense as to why we favoured a loan move back to France (to be close to family) rather than chucking him into the Championship.

The only fuck-up here, isn't that we didn't sort out his loan back to France in the summer but I see nothing to suggest he's not trusted by his manager or that he's a dud so can we give that a rest?

A load of nonsense.

Lol. For those interested in watching Konate, he’s on right now with Upamecano (who we’ easily have been able to buy if we weren’t busy farting money away every transfer window).

So you think he's ready quality now and Arteta refuses to use him because of politics with previous management?

And that we are trying to loan him out not because he isn't ready now and need more game time to improve?

Sounds like we’ll be signing Wilshere.

Lots of risk with that but I’d like to see it.

Wilshere next to Partey would bang

Please no.

Like Wilshere but don't want a player who has barely played any first team football for more than year and whose fitness has always been a question mark.

Also read about a potential Pepe Ousmane Dembele swap - not sure what I’d make of that one

Seeing some links to Buendia, surely if we wanted him why the hell would we wait for January? Even when we missed out on Aouar we had extra time to sign players from lower divisions.

it's like chimpanzees flinging shit at each other.

Whenever I'm cursing at how much money we've wasted in the market over the years I remind myself that Barca spent 300m on Dembele and Coutinho.

he has the same management team as emi, and we have a good relationship there. i honestly don't know why we didn't frontload that deal in the summer, i think the uncertainty over who was coming in (partey vs auoar), and the lateness of the deal, played a part in throwing things out of whack. in any case, we're clearly desperate and need to get these deals done in the 1st week of jan

Villa confirming that it would take a minimum of £100m to even entertain any offers for Grealish.

Dont think he is leaving them anytime soon.

Wilshere 😆

Please no.

Did nobody watch him at West Ham? He's terrible now.
