Claud you are in the other thread blaming Bellerin, Xhaka and Laca for our league position but we have homegrown or young talents in all their positions who could be playing instead. I want a team that is built around super high quality players. Whether young or old. Aubameyang, Partey, ESR, Saka represent this type of player. I don’t care to see bad older players or bad younger players.

I feel like there is a myth that playing younger players is automatically good. No, playing good players is good. This is why I was so supportive of the Odegaard loan even without a buy clause. Another quality option.

I just can't be bothered with these arguments any more. "It doesn't matter where finish in the table, its good not to be in Europe, bringing players through doesn't matter". Its fucking topsy turvy land on here.

Bringing players through is important. We have two of the best youngsters in the league starting for us. That is a success. I don’t think we should expect the academy to fill our first team. We should pick the cream of the crop, keep a few other squaddies and sell the rest if they don’t fit the quality and style requirement. Arsenal should have exacting standards.

As for Europe, I think everyone here would love to be in the Champions League. That’s probably unanimous. But personally I would rather take the time to rebuild the system and team properly with a view to being able to compete for a Champions League place sustainably in future years rather than this business of haplessly slipping down Europa League spots without a plan.

By who? Teenagers on twitter still crying about Martinez and Saliba? Or the adults on here complaining about every midfielder we have and then crying about which of them he picks?

The club obviously has high hopes for him. There’s zero chance they panic and throw him in the bin. It’s pretty clear that he’s here to stay, at least until he loses more of the dressing room than clowns like Guendouzi and Ozil.

But we don't have exacting standards. We have Willian and Elneny.

I absolutely think we should have been playing some of our young players instead signing Willian and keeping Elneny.

Nobody likes the Willian signing. But when the season began, Willian had the right forward position. Saka moved him out of there. That’s what quality does.

I watched the Newcastle game earlier and he was easily the best midfielder on the pitch. You can see what a difference this run of games is making to him. He's got so much more in his locker than Elneny its ridiculous.

Willock deserved playing time and did get it but failed to make any kind of impact. The loan is the right move.

I just can't wait for him to start a full blown party. The snippets only wet the appetite more. He majorly lacks sharpness right now but the full 90 today will help.

Same. Best way to get sharp is to play, and having him on full form could make a difference to how far we progress in the Europa League.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this last week but loved his no look assist to Ødegaard. Lots to work on between those two, especially vertical interchanging.

If Partey finds his shooting boots, it'll be great to have multiple goal threats from midfield.

He's still class, it's only those two loose balls towards the end that really let him down. But his first time passing, touch and ability to take the ball in is really refreshing.

I can't help but watch the entire match thinking if we have a similarly mobile partner for him it would be perfect. Xhaka had a decent game but there are still so many moments where we had loads of space, he took a touch and slowed everything down, back pass to our defenders or goalie. He is simply too slow and not progressive enough most of the time to play it first time, then just protect the ball and wait for people to push him. Day and night difference between him and Partey.

He definitely does that, but also he weighs up options before playing the ball. He's reading the game. You can pop a more basic footballer in their and they'll pass quicker but with less effectiveness for the team.

Ideally we need someone who can think play and move faster.

He was clearly fatigued then too. He still well off 100%.

He's a top player. Give him a full season in the league and he'll be one of the best

great in the first half. his level really dips at around 60 minutes, one can assume due to fitness issues. was a little irresponsible of arteta not to sub him earlier, given his recent injury record
