No wonder Auba is so outspoken and confident about new signings on the live stream

Journo in spain and all the madrid journalists thinks we have humiliated Atleti massively and they are livid.

I dont understand the thought process here. If we dont give the Torreira, I would understand but us triggering the clause is a humiliation for them?

Because we didn't even have the courtesy to inform them, despite being in constantly communication for weeks.

And by all accounts we have told them we will not be activating the release clause and Atleti took that in good faith and started planning everything with Partey. The fact we secretly activated it without informing them with hours to go have left them looking like idiots 😆 Even Partey didn't communicate with the club and just left for medicals

Ahh! Still, fuck them. I hope we dont complete the loan as well for Torreira

Sounds like he will sign a 5 year contract. Will take him to his 32nd birthday. So will get all of his prime years and be done.

The whole idea that we should've told Atletico that we would activate the release clause is propaganda on their part. Do not be caught in their web of misinformation.

It was in no way in our interests to inform them that we would activate the release clause at any point before releasing it because we were trying to negotiate with them to give us a better deal outside the release clause. And they knew this. They felt protected by the release clause, but it now turns out that it was misguided faith.

Leno
Gabriel
Partey
Aubameyang

What a frikkin spine that is

I do think it's common courtesy, and I bet that Partey won't be popular over there after this either, but it sounds like Atletico Madrid pissed us off massively by hardballing us with Torreira in addition to their attitude when we asked to buy Partey. No doubt they saw us as a smaller club those fuckers.

Partey 'almost certain' to happen

I’m told the Thomas Partey move to Arsenal is “almost certain” to happen according to sources close to the player which will be great news for Mikel Arteta.

Finally got our Ramsey replacement Dules.

I believe every other big transfers where they activated the release clause, like Griezmann for example, the buying club always warn the other party in advance before activating it.

It's so stupid for them to be salty now. We wanted Partey, they wanted Torreira. The result was that we had to pay Partey's release clause while they loaned Torreira since they refused to give us any money and somehow they're the victim here.

Jack Wilshere contract got terminated, free agent now.

Fulham loaned Loftus Cheek and Aderabiyo, signs Joachim Andersen. How many CB do they need?

Omar Rekik move to us fall through because we cannot complete his medical in time, will be signed in January instead.

Raphinha done deal to Leeds

At our training ground now apparently, it’s all done.

Club finally feels like it’s really on the right track. No messing around.

Just been watching comps of Partey - he’s stupidly good. Just what we need

Would love to see this

At this rate he's more likely to be our new mascot

We do need someone to don the Gunnersaurus suit.

For sure.

Seriously, I can't believe we're doing this to them the day after United lose 1-6 and Liverpool lose 2-7. The last 24 hours have contained several years' worth of schadenfreude. I've had so much of it that I feel like that fat bloke who eats until he explodes in Monty Python. So, so bloated and happy.

Dembele to United off 😆

Arsenal didn't skip informing them for no reason. Obviously they weren't paying due respect and courtesy to us and we have reacted in kind.

I'd take him.

Same... we should take him back to train at least..

Atletico are about to get 50 stacks wired upfront from La Liga. They'll sleep just fine even though they've been publicly shamed. Lyon should feel a bit sheepish too, and they've got serious financial cliff edges to watch out for now.

260k per week, 4 year contract with an option for a further 1 year. 2.5m agent fee.

It's Partey time.

AFC Bell saying just over 200k (including incentives)

It's Partey time.

That option for the fifth year is actually really great. He'll be 31 at that time so for 260k per week it's good for us to wait and see if he's still got it.

Fucking brilliant

If those reports are true Atletico can fuck off. Can't believe they'd be so dumb though, Partey indicated plenty of times he wants to join us and we probably didn't offer 5m and a pack of gum the first time around meaning we were most likely able to trigger the clause. What's the difference if we told them we're triggering it today?

No way he’s gone from 50 to 260k. Bell figure sounds more reasonable.

Decent cover for Elneny. Hope we get this done.

Assuming we don't loan him out to Fulham, that is...

Seriously are they stupid. If they feel hard done by as we’d indicated we wouldn’t trigger the clause, well why would we? We were trying to get a better deal.

Thank god Sancho didn't end up at United. It would have been such a waste of talent. No serious player should be going anywhere near that club.

The fact that Sancho has seen Paul Pogba's monster talent wither and die because he went to a club with no ambition, no players near his level since the day he walked through the door, no real pressure to perform and win (Ozil and Arsenal are an example of this too), and still wanted to go there, probably does not bode well for his future. I think he's cocky and petty enough to want to stick it to Pep and City, and that was a factor, but still, what was he thinking? At least he hasn't pushed for the move publicly. But he's clearly not the sharpest tool in the box to want to entrust a single day of his career to a manager like Solskjaer and a guy like Ed Woodward running the club.

Think those rumours are made up. If they aren't either they're trying to deflect the blame to us as if what we did was immoral or they're genuine morons. The whole story doesn't add up anyhow why would we go out and tell them we weren't going to trigger the clause in the first place?

Because we have been negotiating for a swap deal and get a better deal, lesser than the clause. We have been acting broke entire summer

Chatter about Buendia gathering pace - not one we’d need to rush today though

Just realized Lyon aren't even in the EL this season. Cheeky Aouar bid in January when they're struggling in the middle of the table? 🙂

Atletico will be fine.

The fucked up La-liga rules mean that they can trigger the release clause of any player at a Spanish club(with that 50 million) upto 30 days after the window closes tonight.

Shitty part is that the selling club wont be allowed to buy a replacement.

Apparently it is contingency plan built on for deals like this which went through on the deadline day.

You're making excuses for Pogba. Talented player, but has never shown himself capable to play well over an extended period of time. Lots of players can display some skill in short bursts here and there. Pogba has never done that. Ridiculously overrated player.
