Press saying we’ve timed out on this one since Chelsea won’t get their new guy in

If you added Jorginho to today’s team in place of El Neny that would be big improvement. Glad to see Arteta is willing to bench Xhaka.

I'm not certain of that at all. The problem with our deep CMs is they have no recovery ability whatsoever, so we can't push high up or we'll get done. Jorginho is arguably much worse in that regard than anyone we've got, even Xhaka. He'd be a recipe for totally ineffective possession that's vulnerable on the break.

Similarly, he's not going to drop in as an auxiliary right back. He needs at least one hard running B2B midfield partner that can mop up and get him the ball if he's going to be any good. We have nobody like that at all.

He's the opposite of versatile as a player, though what he can do is make the team more versatile as a whole if what you've got are a bunch of AMs and a couple of decent tacklers. He'd take you up a level. As it stands, we've got nothing like the kind of squad that he makes any sense for, and that doesn't even factor in his Chelsea reject status.

Don't underestimate the impact of new signings, loan or what. Every year new signings adds some freshness to the squad and competition. We would have had a disastrous season without loaning Ceballos last year.

I really don't mind Jorginho on loan but hard to see why Chelsea would agree to that.

If all we need is a fresh face, get someone with a face you can stand to look at. And while you're at it, buy them permanently. Starting with a CM pair of loanees would be really fucking weird, and not exactly a good way to build a team dumping wages into competitors' players.

Because we sucked massively at the transfer game. We have been ridiculed by Lyon and many other clubs.

So while we can't splash without selling now, do temporary fix until we get into the UCL and then splash.

But of course its extremely rare you get a market where you have a free run at a great player like Aouar and we fluffed that massively.

There's nothing at all that leads to me to believe that signing Jorginho on loan will make any measurable difference on whether we're in the CL next season.
