Sorry, but is it not true that we indeed have more quality than Brentford in majority of the positions on the pitch, despite the absentees? They looked more like a team which I think is a real indictment of our staff.

These types of excuses sound like the same loser mentality you keep accusing the whole squad of. Optimistic to get a result agains a newly promoted side? It was a cup final for them and they were well up for it? Why weren't we?

Of course they looked more of a team, they've been playing together for years whilst we had XI players that had literally never played all together. We fielded 3 players that were making their debuts (Balogun's was League debut).

Because it's not the first game in our new stadium or the first time we've played in the top division for 74 years.

Good thing we have an easier match up ahead, Chelsea have played in the top division for a long time in an old stadium.

Ricky, our football was disjointed most of last season and this whole pre season. This is not a new feature. Our football needs to evolve soon. I n understand matches are a different ball game but some of the players look like they don't know each other.

Don’t let your standards drop even if the club’s has. We are Arsenal. We just lost to Brentford. We fielded some kids, but that shouldn’t be a problem if the kids and their coaching is up to required standards. You lay blame everywhere but at the feet of the one who was supposed to prepare his team for the game

I agree. But that doesn't change the fact that in the particular game we are discussing it's crazy to expect our XI to look more of a team than Brentford's. More quality? Sure, but more of a team? Litetally impossible.

Look, we lost. It sucks. I'm annoyed. But this shit in football can happen and there were more than enough legitimate reasons to make it not the worst thing that has ever happened.

Name one of these big, bad Brentford players, and what their careers have been like. And why use just Balogun. He didn’t concede the goals. Worst case if you don’t score at least don’t concede. Your team can be ready to defend. We just signed mr 50million pounds, and now we are saying he wasn’t ready?

Anyway, like you said it’s a moot discussion, I just don’t agree with the idea that this loss and performance was inevitable even with all the circumstances you mentioned and the big bad Brenftorders

Every other team faces newly promoted sides who are up for it, every other team deals with injuries, every other team had to deal with covid, every other team has players they would rather move on, etc Thats all just part of the job. You can't have perfect circumstances all the time and only measure success from the start of your good form until the end of it.

Or, crazy idea, we could have played the golden boot winner who obviously wasn't ill on the match day.

Maybe we would still have lost, but people would perhaps feel that at least we put a concerted effort into finding a solution with the best pieces available to us rather than handing the first start to a kid who has never scored a league goal outside the youth team.

There's a big difference between perfect circumstances and missing Gabriel, Partey, Saka, Lacazette and Aubameyang. That's half a team.
