Oh shit. The only real upside of keeping Luiz for the season was that he could help transition in the new defenders. It'll be interesting to see what happens now. I wouldn't be surprised if Mustafi gets that job, at least until he potentially leaves.

Tough decisions for Arteta this Sat. Willian, Laca or Eddie (assuming Auba plays central if its the former). Pepe or Saka? Saliba or Gabriel? Leno or Martinez?

Leno; Saliba, Holding, Tierney; Bellerin, Ceballos, Xhaka, Maitland-Niles; Pepe, Nketiah, Aubameyang

Bench: Martinez, Cedric, Gabriel, Saka, Nelson, Lacazette, Willian

Or something thereabouts. Elneny and/or Willock are good candidates for making the bench too.

Wouldn't mind that team at all, except for Martinez in unless we're trying to get rid of him. Saka in for Bellerin and switch sides with AMN wouldn't be bad either.

Have a gut feeling Pépé might be slow to get up to fitness, but would be exciting to see him out based on his last performance against Chelsea.

Yeah maybe. I was thinking Saka for Pepé has to be a close call too based on how Saka played in preseason and the Community shield. But starting both him and Eddie in the attack just seems to lack some dimension. And I'm fairly sure Eddie will get the nod when he's been in such good form during the national break.

Saka, Eddie and AMN have been away with their respective national sides and I assume won't be back in training until tomorrow, so that should give an edge to the likes of Laca, Pepe, and Hector. Will be interesting to see what role Willian plays.

All in all I’m just glad that we finally have competition for places. It’s good to see and should keep the players focused.

Saliba is probably more ready than Gabriel. Can't see Gabriel starting with just a few training session.

Think we might also see Elneny starting ahead of Ceballos for the same reason.

Ceballos played pre-season games though didn't he, as he was able to come in and train straight away with no quarantine. I think he'll start. Its not that long since the cup final.

Yeah he'll be fine. He knows what Arteta want's from that role too, he's not having to learn anything new.

Everyone assuming it'll be a back 3 but I wonder if we're in for a surprise with the formation. Could drop one of the centre backs especially with Luiz out and play Willian at No.10. Fulham are a newly promoted team and the weakest of the 3 at that.
