So Klopp is the coach I most respect in this league, and I’m still sad we missed out on. But that’s the difference between Fenway and Kroenke. When Klopp was available, they made the move. We hung on to Wenger. We could’ve told Wenger his time was up at the end of the season and confirmed Klopp for the next year. This is the difference between the two organisations.
Further, Fenway added a reputable head of recruitment / analytics in Michael Edwards. Together with Klopp, they’ve built a team plan and are buying and selling against it with a high success rate. What is notable is that they went up the learning curve quickly after a few bland/ failed transfers early on. One hopes that Arteta/Edu are Klopp/Edwards but they don’t have the experience and they need the support from the team. Team support looks like “sell our best player and reinvest in good new players. We trust your judgment and give you time.” That’s why I say Fenway. Although Klopp would’ve done well here, I don’t think he has the level of success he has achieved at Liverpool.
