What did Xhaka do last season against Spurs away when it counted or Newcastle away?
Why don’t we look at the timeline of this thread and see how much ppl wanted him out at so many points last season. Even in 2022 after Liverpool away when he got sent off.
There is a reason for this thread title.
When Xhaka will no doubt cost us again this season I want to see the same energy on here. And make no mistake he will cost us.
What did anyone do when Rob Holding let us down at Spurs? Or when the whole team didn't show up at Newcastle? Singling out one player in those two games is ridiculous, but I think you know this.
And even if Xhaka was specifically worse than the rest of the team (he wasn't), it wouldn't invalidate the general uptick in form last season.
If you're right about him costing us, and even I can see you may well prove to be, let's deal with it then because as I've said before moaning about players fucking up before they've done it is also ridiculous. This isn't Minority Report.
Holding is a squad player - you can’t compare him to someone who plays week in week out. The players that got us to be in that position pre Spurs away deserve credit, the likes of Saka, ESR, Ramsdale etc, not Xhaka, if anything he has more to prove. The Saka’s get more leeway for not showing up v Spurs/Newcastle, not Xhaka who is already on minus 9 lives.
Players who have fucked up in the past many, many times have a higher chance of fucking up again. It’s not minority report it’s common sense. Don’t see how this is ‘ridiculous’.
Spurs will fuck up this season because they are Spurs. Thomas Partey and Tierney will get injured again this season because they are injury prone. And Xhaka will Xhaka.
That’s the last I’ll say about this matter as don’t want to go round in circles.
