It's crazy. He fell out with the fans, was on the verge of leaving but stayed and continues to start despite offering very little. He was a poor signing, big deal, all top teams make bad signings. However, top teams also move out and replace the bad signings quickly. We continue to stick with him. Now next match both him and Mustafi will start for sure.

Had to laugh when that idiot Jamie Redknapp said he got the yellow to make it look like he was doing something. Xhaka was making those tackles all game and the yellow was always coming. His passing is shit but that tackling was important today, he stopped a lot of counters and the defensive side of his game was good.

His slow passing has reached new heights though and worse still he goes backwards half the time now.

I never get that feeling with Xhaka though, that he doesn't give a toss. He is just a poor footballer, lacks athleticism and doesn't have the intelligence to make up for it. He just doesn't belong at a club like Arsenal in Premier League football. He isn't going to pull out and admit he isn't good enough. Up to the managers to stop playing him.

Xhaka is who he has been for the just 4 years, more fool us for putting up with him but that's what Arsenal do right now. Tolerate incompetence more then any other club would.

His tackles today were the opposite of brainless though, he knew what he was doing and it mostly worked for us. He wasn't half as bad today as people are saying. His passing has gone to shit under Arteta though.

Welli mean smart midfielders make tackles they often can potentially get away with. Xhaka's are always poor timed blatant fouls because he's doesn't have that intelligence to get away with the tactical fouls. That's just because he's not a smart footballer.

He did but I think they weren't subtle just the ref have him a long leash. Could have been booked easily on the first one.

Started his stint at Hertha being sidelined with Corona, but he's been a starter for them ever since he came back and been their best midfielder from what I've seen. It is Hertha Berlin though, absolute shithouse club so I don't usually watch them for 90 minutes and their best midfielder before Guendouzi arrived was Marko Grujic, so it's not exactly the highest of standards. Their fans seem really happy with him though.

There seemed to be quite a few Arsenal fans who were happy for us to keep Xhaka towards the end of last season.

He'll string together a few weeks of half-decent games later in the season, and people will start being optimistic about him again.

It's been a dire cycle with him. Should have got rid after the Palace game.

Most people's line on Xhaka has been that they want to get rid of him, but he's too important to the way we're set up so we have to replace him properly first.

I don't think that's true anymore though. We've changed shape lately and we're not as dependent on him lying deep in the field as we were under Emery or last season's Arteta. Xhaka still does some things rather well, especially defensively, and he did them well today too, but he's far easier to swap for someone else right now and I don't think he would have started at all tonight if Elneny hadn't contracted covid during the international break.

Yeah there is a bit of that but I've seen him in recent weeks with forward passes on turning and playing it backwards. Is it decline, is it confidence or is it tactical? I'm not sure but he's way worse this season than any season previously. He's really sloppy with easy passes lately too, he's always had that in him but when he's on form and confident they are way less regular.
