I don't think it sounds unhinged, he's supposed to be a leader on the pitch, yet he was chiefly responsible for things getting out of hand. It's not leadership to give away a penalty and then throw a huge hissy fit so that tempers flare up, it would have been leadership if he had accepted the decision and calmed the rest of the team down, apologise and get back on with what was working excellently. But you don't get that with Xhaka, you just get a lot of drama and it's always to the detriment of the team. Fuck him. And he'll start every game for the rest of the season too. Getting rid of him will be the best bit of business we can do in the summer.

This. IMO Xhaka should have been the next departure after Ozil, not just because of his issues but simply but simply because of the position and role he plays in regards to the team play. I keep saying we should have prioritised establishing the new spine.

Captures the absurdity of that PR athletic piece, in the club he's loved. If that is true who have we got at this club if people are genuinely happy with his contributions and see the perception of fans judging his match day performances as the anomaly that must be wrong.

He's just about an above average footballer, he's thick as a plank and has no capacity to learn. That doesn't mean he can't be good role model with his attitude in training, can't be a hard worker or can't be good with other players.

None of his good qualities matters in the end. As a footballer and personality he offers nothing irreplaceable.

Xhaka generates and exacerbates incidents that impact our ability to stay organised, play our football and win matches.

If we'd selected Maitland-Niles in his place on Saturday I see us shaping up and playing a little differently, but just as well, not enduring that meltdown of composure and discipline, and having a much better chance to win.

I'm tired of this guy and want him gone. He can't be relied on and is extremely damaging on the occasions he lets us down.

One thing I hate about his on field play is when he dithers on the ball turning one way then the next, and then passes back to one of the CBs and points for them to pass/kick the ball forward when he wasn't prepared to do so in the first place.

I'm curious as to what his record is like v the other big6 clubs both in terms of performance rating and disciplinary as I suspect he is mainly a flat track bully. Although he did well v MC yesterday the pen conceded tends to negate the rest of his performance in game.

IMO most/all of his BIG moments as a player on the pitch tend to be his f*ck ups, either penalties and/or red cards.
He's had as many red cards as he's had MOTM performances.

I also find it telling that even during his recent 'resurgence' we are still talking about Odegaards creativity and the impact of Martinelli and Saka, rather than about Xhaka leading the way or his influence on games unless he f*cks up.

Well why does none of that translate onto the pitch where we can see it? I'm always unconvinced by arguments about players mystical off field qualities. People said the same shit about Luiz. It's usually just because there's little else positive to say about them.

The biggest indictment of Xhaka at the end of the day isn't that he's untalented, it's that he has been at Arsenal for five years and he's yet to make anyone else's life any easier. He's positionally flexible, got good distribution, and a great left peg, but he's also one of the biggest morons to ever lace on a pair of boots. He's supposed to be a leader but too often he's a burden to those around him due to his slow brain and his erratic behaviour. Anyone running in a straight line can get past him or get fouled trying, because he plays flat-footed in a way that is kinda hilarious from a professional footballer, especially one who's supposed to be able to defend.

There are just a ton of small things to hate about him in the absence of big things to love, and the fact that we've built so much of our game around him for years is one of several reasons we've fallen behind. Bloke's a level cap for the whole team.

I think it does, unfortunately the fact that he's as thick as a plank means it manifests itself in all the wrong ways. Case in point when he went chasing down the City players like a mad mad while we're down to ten men, it led to City's only real opening in the game. But he doesn't hide, doesn't go into his shell, he'll be the same idiot next week and have among the highest number of touches.

I'm not defending Xhaka, I don't like him as a player or a personality, I just don't buy that him being a weak link means he's terrible at everything or that he has no redeeming qualities.

You could go to a Power League game and see people defend with a more appropriate stance and posture than him in these situations. To make things worse he put's his fucking hands behind his back so he doesn't hand ball, making him more rigid, but then sticks his legs out and pulls the shirt like that's not going to be a problem.

Absolutely spot on. The way he do things it's hard not to get penalized. He just isn't smart at all.

People who thought what Xhaka did was good otherwise we can all stop playing football really misses the point completely.
