My stance all along isnt that xhaka is the height of our ambition, but that fans are overly harsh to him based on his ability. I feel you've highlighted that nicely, thank you.

We are talking about Xhakas dozey passing when not under pressure, the really simple ones he passes straight to the opposition for no good reason. He does it every season and its the sign of a man who's not focussed. Parteys long shots are not a sign of a lack of focus, if he was paying more attention they wouldn't go in the top corner. Everyone knows Partey had a poor season last year anyway, he was largely playing through injury. Not sure what any of it has to do with Xhaka regularly falling asleep while playing out under no pressure for 5 years though.

Imagine Arteta going with a safety first approach and have Xhaka and Bellerin in the side playing giveaway at the back all through the season .

Aye now shift back to reality for a minute and think of how poor the midfield consistently looks without xhaka. I mean give me 2 parteys if that's an option or party an another world class midfielder. But for years under Wenger, Emery and arteta (proven, proven and unproven) we've stunk when xhakas missing. Loconga will hopefully really help.

We only have to think as far back as the EL games against villareal. Xhaka didn't play either game in midfield and despite having the second best form in the prem from December till the end of the season. We were really terrible in the middle of the park in both games.

The argument isn't whether he is our best midfielder. The point is he is not the right fit for us. Nobody cares if he is better than Elneny and all the other partners over the past few years

That you can say he's better than Elneny and Ceballos most of the time isn't high praise. And even at that our best midfield performance last season came with Elneny in his place beside Partey against United.

Ramsey was much better than Xhaka anyway, and that's not a minority opinion. Bloke was literally our player of the season during one of those past four years. You wanna talk about a midfielder who was integral to everything good at Arsenal, let's start right there.

Against the ole diamond formation. Which was a car crash for them. And that partnership after that never looked right.

It's worth considering that we're generally a car crash without him before being desperate to sell him for 10m. Does anyone think Loko elneny for months if partey is injured is too big a risk to take for 10m?

I'm pretty sure nobody said they wanted Xhaka gone without a replacement.

We can absolutely sign players like partey and Loko while he's here. In the same way we can sign white while we have a host of CBs.

Please speedy. I don't know why we are even doing this pointless debate but you yourself know how likely it is that we keep Xhaka and buy a new CM and put Xhaka on the bench for next 4 years.

Well absolutely upgrade him while he's here and then he'll choose to stay or leave.

We tried we got partey done last summer and Loko done this summer and the tried for others including Locatelli and didn't get the deals done. They'll try again next season.

It's been that way for decades & before we gave KSE the keys to the kingdom when PHW arranged the buyout following Danny Fiszman's death.

Much of it stems from our much lauded financial policy & structures, that has us being penny wise and pound foolish looking at our revenues from a short term season by season aspect. Another aspect being the BoD/shareholders running the club prior to KSE saw themselves in a 'caretaker' role rather than being the 'drivers' taking the club forward.
Essentially KSE is much the same in that both aspects of our ownership were/are more than happy to have someone else do the heavy lifting for them - usually the club manager/football operation.

Our downfall started when we replaced Cazorla with Xhaka. That isn't Xhaka's fault per say. It's like when we replaced VP with Giroud and kept playing him until we went out and got Auba.

Except instead of replacing him, now we've decided to give him a new contract and spend all of our transfer funds on a CB, all thanks to poundland pep.
