When we heard we are willing to loan Douzi out I thought it was because Torreira would be sold. We shouldn't be loaning everyone out and then playing Elneny against Liverpool like fucking idiots.

The Torreira loan to buy is probably just an accounting trick. It’s probably a sale. We would do it as a loan to buy so that we don’t take a massive hit on his residual value this year. He will depreciate another 20% this year, while we also get the loan fee. And then we will net out his transfer fee against the remaining 40% versus against remaining 60% of transfer fee. He’s gone.

Yeah. That’s why it’s important to understand what each club needs out of the negotiation. The way this is structured could end up being of benefit to us overall relative to an outright sale overall. And Atletico get their player on a delayed financing scheme which is helpful given the state of La Liga finances.

Could've sworn torino were offering 12m now + 12m next season. This homesick little runt has been fingered by suarez and simeone and we're giving in to him. Annoying considering he's done fuck all for the club to warrant any special considerations

I think a loan is fine regardless of whether they choose to buy him or not in the end. Either he has a good season with Atletico, in which case there will surely be takers next summer, or he does not, in which case we've at least gotten a loan fee and saved a year's worth of wages. That probably amounts to _£8-10 million all in all.

If he stays in London he'll either end up on the bench or in the stands most weekends, and he's bound to lose value either way in that case, all while we're paying him to not play.

That's such a terrible deal. Imagine if they don't play him much and his value drops by half.

It would only be a good deal if we got Partey in the end but I have a feeling the chances is like 10%. All summer the noises from Atleti camp does not sound good

Also, maybe I'm a glass half full of the worlds most precious resource kind a guy, but with Douzi on the outs I don't think we let Torreira go if we were not confident of getting a replacement (Aouar doesn't count). Partey time?

Yes I agree with that completely. Either Partey or someone else. Also, we wouldn't be loaning him to Atletico unless we are getting Partey in return either at a discount or better payment terms or what have you. I presume the negotiation was that we get Partey at more favourable terms than the RC and they get Torreira on loan in return.

This deal suggests the stumbling block with Parety was wages and agent fees ratherthan just AM's price.

Arteta: He had a very last year where Arsenal loaned him to Saint-Etienne and that was a transition year for him. For many reasons, that wasn't the transition year that he needed because he had a lot of injuries, he had some personal issues and obviously with COVID and the French league getting cancelled, he didn't have that year, so he needs that year of transition. Also, we are trying to make the right decisions for him to make the best possible year of transition for him to have the player we want for our future.
