Some very good proposals there imo but clearly comes with strings.
I prefer that we are not involved.Â
These are not good proposals. All that Liverpool and United have done is say they are willing to give away a bit of money in return for a) 10% fewer clubs into perpetuity that share in premier league TV cash, and b) more time for money spinning summer competitions. The league offers what appears to be big payouts to lower leagues and the women's game but it masks efforts to pile up more cash and doesn't even mask efforts to concentrate power.Â
What would be better would be reorganising with clear principles such asÂ
- managing match day costs for fans to improve local connectivityÂ
- increasing competitiveness and mobility
Reorganise around some principles like that and I think more people will get excited. But they won't. They'll offer the same kind of disingenuous rationale of foreign competition that Facebook does whenever it wants to challenge antitrust action.Â
