we could've played any two of Vieira, Gilberto, Edu, and Parlour at centre back. Hell, Toure was a converted midfielder. when you have guys like Cole, Henry and Bergkamp terrorising the opponent, your degrees of freedom increase. they have a bit of that.

We wouldn't have survived that. The Invincibles era or before that our squad was so thin if we played Vieira and Gilberto at CB, Edu and Parlour at CM we would get tonked by United those days. The drop off in quality was too big between our first team and reserves those days

Even Villa are still in the mix, 3 games in hand that if they won would have them level with City. Now I don't expect that'll happen but they've an outside shot at top 4.

There are a lot of teams with a lot of opportunities between us and a European place.
