Reading that this is directly linked to us having to pay the players more for qualifying Europa. Wage cut also affected as it is reduced from 12.5% to 5% as a result of that.

We finished 8th because Raul brought in Emery and then backed him despite him losing the dressing room towards the end of last season. They would have legit relegated us if they had kept going.

Cagigao brought in Martinelli last summer. Sven brought in Auba and Leno in the 18 months before that, and he was let go/got pushed out too because Raul didn't want to use his network. The StatDNA analysts were let go last year. It's not about not trusting particular scouts, it's about setting the club up to outsource most of the scouting to an agent-run company. What could possibly go wrong here.

This is thing, we all know we do not have the money to to go with a agent based approach.

We need to be ahead of the curve, and people like Cagigao should have been an important part of that.

What's the justification for paying "players" 350k a week to go on holiday and not be part of the squad while needing to make those on regular living salaries redundant in order to protect the future of the club?

Seems more like the scouting department object to us being Kia's plaything after being dicked around by StatDna

I doubt its about costs, we're not saving much in the scheme of things. If you're going through all the bad press of redundancies, you'd try and lay off more people to save a meaningful amount. Certainly Korenke won't care, £3m is a rounding error for him.

That doesn't really compute either though, if it were the case they'd be the ones to leave rather than being made redundant. I'm sure at least a couple of those guys, Cagigao included, were only appointed to their respective roles in the last 18 months or so. Something just doesn't add up. Also if they're among the redundancies it would literally have to mean that they're not being replaced. Worrying consolidation of power.

Jokes about Kia aside we've also signed Pepe, Mari, Tierney, Ceballos and Saliba and they've nothing to do with him as far as I'm aware, neither do Gabriel or Partey who are both heavily linked. How/who have they been scouted and identified by? Edu/Raul and their contacts?

I think we should stop with this and blame Kroenke. We can't fire Özil. If it was possible we'd do it a long time ago.

Would be interesting if one of the sacked scouts discusses the nature of the dismissal. At the moment, we are assuming that it is due to clash of culture in terms of how the club is run. With the current executive team being more focused on short term gains and the scouting team being more for long term gains.

If that is the case, it would be good to hear from someone within the club who has been let go. I think that there is probably more than meets the eye with this.

Doesn’t help with all the irresponsible reporting by newspapers. They make it seem like paying Ozil £18m this season and laying off these poor workers are closely connected. Like it’s an easy decision the team can make. “Hey, Ozil, how about you take a £3m cut so we can save money for other costs.” Oh, I forget. They tried that and he told them to fuck off as is his right.

All I see here is a business decision. That will sound heartless but the impact of covid is real. Gate revenues are going down and players are essential, scouts aren't (for example). It doesn't change the fact that the message was tasteless and tuned towards the fans (doing well in Europe and shit). Also an owner can't just influence operational accounts, this is on Raul and team to figure out. It sucks

I don't understand why Kroenke would tolerate the creeping rot of Joorabchian's influence on the club, it's not like it's going to help his bottom line. He's either stupid or apathetic if he lets it happen.

Looking back into less recent history, I wonder if the first inklings of this were why Gazidis decided to move on?

Key point being it is a proposal at this point and will not be finalised for 30 days.

Playing Devil's Advocate again - imagine the free PR KSE would pick up if they now turn around and stopped this action taking place.

The other part I don't like (other than the staff and scouting losses), is that the commercial team is also being cut = how can you improve revenues with no one to do so?
