It's not just the Pepe deal that is being looked at = our transfer process in general.
A number of blogs suggesting that something is either going on behind the scenes, or it has already taken place and the enquiry is part of the fall out.

Let’s see.
If there is ineptitude or impropriety, he should go. But it will reflect very badly on the Kroenkes. To lose 1 executive may be regarded as misfortune. To lose 3 looks like corporate failure.
The worry is it feels like our period of consolidation is taking far too long. Wenger left 2 years ago and Sven/Raul joined almost 3 years back.

Why not just look for someone out of football?
Cast the net wide for the best executive who can run a sports organization. I’m looking at the NBA Africa. They just hired a former banker / deal-maker to run their operation this week. I think football leaves itself at risk of a diminished talent pool by constantly looking inside.

Cast the net wide for the best executive who can run a sports organization. I’m looking at the NBA Africa. They just hired a former banker / deal-maker to run their operation this week. I think football leaves itself at risk of a diminished talent pool by constantly looking inside.

It is a good point you make. Maybe they football clubs believe that outsiders might miss the nuances to make great decisions.

In that way, football clubs are outdated, but also Real & Barca have a model of lawyers and “businessmen” taking over, only to screw up those clubs finances and do dodgy deals.

I think the key here is to not overlook the value of expertise. Bring in the best football men as DoF, managers, head of scouting etc. and respect their authority. But there are lots of roles that do not require football people - executive roles, analytics, etc.

People outside of football will get those jobs some day, but football clubs are incredibly slow in evolving, and indeed hate looking outwards. There was a time where every PL club that fired their manager just seemed to pick up a manager that had recently been fired by another PL club. And they were all British.

Same! Seems like it may actually just be part of the restructuring. Given Vinai is now doing two jobs, seems like Stan/Josh didn't see the value in Raul now that Edu is in.
