Watched American Sniper. Usually put off films like this but Claud recommend it. Have to say I found it a really disturbing watch, from start to finish.

If you want to be disturbed further, read about his demise. They skip his death out of respect to his widow, but it basically highlights America’s gun problem. Killed at a range by a PTSD’d veteran who put 11 shots into him and his friend. Imagine surviving 4 tours of duty in Iraq...

Yeah the irony wasn't lost on me!

Aside from the actual events though I found the presentation and the 'American hero' narrative around the story off putting. The film is basically an advert for the US military.

That's the main reason I'm not fond of the movie. I liked it while seeing it, but thinking back on it that's all I can think about.

Watched Nobody last night, solid fun. Basically someone thought "What if Bob Odenkirk was John Wick?".

It's absolute garbage. The epitome of killing people in their own countries makes soldiers sad bullshit. Especially give Kyle was an unrepentant piece of shit in real life.

I had the same concerns about it, but it’s hard to find an American movie that doesn’t glorify that country’s navy. American gun culture and reverence of armed forces even in peace time are closely linked and disturbing. But you get the same sense of glorification fo violence and patriotism in other movies Ive seen recently like Hurt Locker and Midway

😆 tbf the plastic bag in the movie had way more personality and charisma than Owen.

Army of the Dead, nice pace to it and doesn't drag even though its stupidly long for a zombie movie. Some cool scenes too but overall there is nothing to make it memorable or all that interesting. Loads of ideas that never really go anywhere too. And the music choices are just awful. No where near as good as Snyders Dawn of the Dead. He should just make music videos and ads, his films are that hollow.
