Craig is an excellent Bond, but the franchise has become a little bloated in this latest phase. Still looking forward to seeing the finale.
The key to Ian Fleming (shitty writer and horrible person though he was in a lot of ways) is that the books are short, pulpy and don't have a great deal of context before or after. Recurring characters yes, but not tons of backstory or projection.
CASINO ROYALE is a great film because it investigates Bond's trauma—stirred, not shaken for a change—but it's a trick that only really works once in my opinion. Not that the others of the Craig era are bad by the run of these things, but they're not special.
