I think current position is misleading. I don't think they're scraping 4th - probably scraping 6/7th. Overall I'd say they've gotten worse from the time he's come in, and not just relative to other teams. They're dogshit for entertainment and thats Conte's brand to own. I was immediately worried for the future of our brand of football when it looked like we were speaking with him.

KingslandBarge have you forgotten how they were when he took over? They were terrible, Kane was basically on strike. He's done as well as anyone likely could with that side. They wont finish top 4 next season.

Still maintain they're in serious trouble of missing out on Europe KingslandBarge. Spurs and Chelsea have a majorly onerous task of recovering squad morale. Even before building tactical cohesion. You've got murmurs of players wanting to escape a sinking ship in both clubs. Here's hoping United tumble further too.

Burnwinter I can understand some coaches have a modus operandi akin to condottieri, but I don't respect the ones that have a pattern of leaving clubs in shambles on the way out. conte and mourinho are among the worst offenders. can't imagine having that as your brand

Officially gone, while the club will get rightly get some of the blame but Conte has played his role in all this as well. Can't help but feel him wanting to leave now is partially down to him trying to protect his reputation more than anything.

Last season Son/Kane hit crazy levels to get them into the Top 4 but that only happened imo because Partey got injured. If Partey had stayed fit we would have pipped them.

Qwiss that's only if you look at it from a results perspective though.

There's been zero attempt to build something sustainable and on an upward trajectory. Conte's style is to extract every last drop of blood from a set of players and it works in the short term, but ultimately you're left with corpse.

I don't think anyone else would have had them in a much better position in the table either this season or last, possibly worse. But they may have been in a better place when it comes to moving ahead.

Way he's doing them now, they probably won't finish top four this season, and the amount of damage he's done will probably scuttle them for the next as well.

We're witnessing the misbegotten spectacle of a "top" manager more or less threatening to deliberately abandon his club's quite achievable season objectives. Top four in sight and Conte's behaviour's become so unhinged, histrionic and self-pitying nobody in the operation can trust him.

Tottenham's only recourse has been to sack him, only to be forced to pay him out and then hope a ring-in will be able to show a bit more spine and drag them into the CL places.

Let's not forget Conte asked for backing in summer and Spurs handed him a nett £140m spend. Now those players he signed himself seem to hate his guts even more than the rest. Absolutely toxic.

Takes a bit to make you feel sympathy for Spurs.

Think he was just there for the paycheck really, being able to improve them was a potential bonus.

He rejected them less than six months before he joined and regardless of his most recent outburst, he's spent the duration of his time there complaining about the squad and the club in general. All very reminiscent of his second season at Chelsea where he'd clearly got the hump and stalked the touchline with the air of a man who didn't want to be where he was but also wanted to receive his paycheck in full.

He's probably thinking the PSG/R.Madrid might be available in the summer and if he ends up finishing out of the Top 4 with Spurs would probably harm his reputation.

Well, that's true. But back in the Arteta out days when people like AAStyle were banging on about needing a "top top manager" like Conte he was always my idea of the last person we'd want.

Listening to this morning Arsecast Extra, they raise a valid point: Spurs are 4th. Okay, they're not playing well, but they're 4th, what's really given them the shits is how we're disappearing into the distance again.

They are! That's what's pretty appalling about their situation with Conte to me. They've just gotta make up a tiny bit of ground on either United or Newcastle, and then they get to stick to fourth in a pivotal season for the whole league's development.

To put it another way, they're almost exactly where we were this time last season, with similar squad investment and revenues.

We missed out then and now look at us, they scraped in ahead of us then and now look at them: because we're Arsenal and they're Spurs, because we have Arteta and they had this complete prick. The contrast filter is dialled to one hundred: it's stark out there and they are always in our shadow.
