Well, Odegaard seems to be in Ancelotti’s plans. As for Bissouma, I’d watch out for Crystal Palace or Watford beating us to him.

sometimes if you've tracked a player for ages but don't show enough conviction when it comes to the actual purchase, you can be written off by the player as a tyre kicker. from what I've read villa made him their unquestionable marquee buy, whereas we might have dilly dallied and said we'll get back to you, give us a few weeks etc which isn't abnormal tbf. what this says more than anything is that we weren't worth waiting for. villa came in with a hot offer, and he and his agent didn't hesitate to take it

I think the interest and intent were serious, but not the conviction to go outside our core principles regarding our financial structures/criteria.
And more so if our strategy/criteria is that we sell/reduce numbers/generate revenues and cash flow BEFORE we buy.

We're more likely to pay re wages than transfer fee because of the way we've set up our financial structure, and it's part of the reason as to why we owe so much in transfer payments.
IMO thus far this summer we're tapping out on any transfer fee above 30m, because we don't have the readies to pay up front, and we need to spread out a limited budget again/as per usual.

Even before the stadium project we've had a cash flow issue. We look to pay a lower portion of the transfer fee upfront and then to absorb it as increased repayments which then bloats our operating costs, which then reduces the available cash flow for subsequent seasons.
We are all about sustainment rather than growth.

Would be a ridiculous midfield. Old school Arsenal. Two midfielders who can do a bit of everything. He has just turned 27. Would be okay given how young the rest of the team is likely to be. Both of these guys could easily do a 3-4 year cycle.

Need 3 midfielders. Don't care how they are drawn on prematch graphics, but there has to be 3 as far as I'm concerned.

Agreed & would be my 1st choice combo for a 2 CM midfield if our focus is to regain top4.
