Yeah we've already handed out one stupid deal to a 32 year old, we need to avoid any more players who are past their peak.

Camavinga with a great goal today, crazy how good he looks for a 17 year old. Doubtful he will move this season but if we can get CL we should be going all out for someone like him, looks an incredible talent.

Improbable / unlikely, but I don't care = another time / opportunity for the club & owner to show some ambition / intent & pull the rug out from under everyone.

Even if Messi is free, he earns £1,2m a week pre tax. There is no number of jerseys you can sell to make back that money. It would just be a show of force that only PSG/City/Chelsea can consider.

Probably so unless Messi considers leaving to be more important than the amount of his pay check.
My point is that we won't even consider the improbable, unlike our earlier efforts re Cruyff and Maradona where at least we made an approach and got rejected.

The game has changed irreparably. Even Galactico-driven Real Madrid admitted that they cannot compete with the Petro-dollar clubs. That’s why they spend lots of money on all those Brazilian prospects. They’ve decided to go unearth the next Neymar rather than have to buy him or compete with the super rich clubs for him. The agent will also want a big salary if there is no transfer fee.

For his own development it is better for him to stay another year at Rennes but the kid has unreal quality. To be that good at 17 is not normal, looks a generational talent.

If our owners had some ambition sign him now and let him stay there for a year, like we did for Saliba. Minimal outlay this summer but I think every top club in Europe has their eyes on him, noway we could sneak under the radar.

In an ideal world KSE could loan us the money or 'gift' the player like Neymar's move to PSG, so there are options that wouldn't sink the club.
Likewise we don't have the quality to win the PL this season, but he would likely be the difference to regaining UCL & we could then add the pieces to create a title challenging team.

If you sign Messi for a 3 year contract, you will commit £150m before transfer fee. In any case, he’s an old man. He doesn’t have time to be helping teams to qualify for the Champions League

Very glad we have signed Ceballos up for another season.

I'd be happy with sealing the deal on Auba, Gabriel coming in, and Auoar or Partey (maybe the latter partly covered by Lacazette to Atletico?). Together with Saliba joining us finally, and Willian, that'd be a really successful summer. Departures that wouldn't derail us, additions that seem like they'd line up and be useful.

Particularly if we clear out Özil's locker and ship him off to some desert island for the season, or better yet, stick a bow on him and make him some Gulf princeling's 21st birthday present.

Edouard scored last night for France u21 vs Georgia and Guendouzi played the whole game.

But the player we should be going for who might give better long term value is 20 year old Nice striker Gouiri. He plays with real flair, great close control ability to dribble past defenders and get a shot off. Finds space really well in the box and a good finisher. Reminds me of Icardi. We allegedly looked into him 3 years ago. He’s not at the Mbappé or Benzema level for a French 20 year old forward, but as good as any other I’ve seen in recent years.
