In my opinion the hardest part about an Aouar transfer would be competition from other clubs and whether he'd want to come here. I think we could raise the cash if the other issues aren't there.

Thought this was an interesting read after having seen Locatelli being mentioned here before.

Yeah. Locatelli would be a smart buy.
And as I mentioned elsewhere, the other smart Serie A buy is De Paul at Udinese. He can play on the left wing or central midfield. This season he was in the center. He scores, has a good range of long and short passing. And has a high number of dribbles and carries. Just a solid all around player. Lens just signed his midfield partner Fofana (also quite good), so that might complicate a move.

I like Locatelli. The expectations of replacing Pirlo broke him when he was a youngster coming through at Milan.

Now he has really matured at Sassuolo in a less demanding atmosphere.

As an aside, I can really see De Zerbi (Sassuolo manager) at a bigger cub in a not so distant future.

A tactically astute coach whose teams play attractive football.

Good shout. They’re quite a progressive team. Score a lot of goals. Berardi’s been very good this season as has been Djuricic. With a bit of money, he could’ve pushed Milan and Napoli

Would we be happy starting the season with:

Bellerin/AMN-------------Tierney/Saka
--------Partey----Ceballos/Xhaka----
---Pepe---------Auba-------Willian--

Might be overly reliant on Willian to create but should be solid defensively. As the season progresses, pivot to 4atb and introduce Saka/Ceballos in the midfield three alongside Partey and Xhaka.

Should be good enough to at least compete for 4th even if it falls short.

IMO Lacazette should keep his place with Auba as LW. Otherwise, great.

Credit to Clrnc for noticing him, I think Maxence Caqueret who's also in OL's midfield is one that we should target as well.

The one that caught my attention was Sangare - we've been linked previously and Toulouse were relegated this past season.

Get Thomas Partey done - he’s the real game changer for us

Get Partey and Aouar, resign Ceballos and we are set for a good top 3 finish IMO. That's the dream scenario.

Minimally, we will need at least Partey + Coutinho on loan for worst case scenario to have any chance of a top 4 finish. Getting Partey and losing Ceballos pretty much meant status quo.

Happy to have landed my first choice CB wishlist though

He's not, but we can't sign a 27 year old and a 30 year old in midfield along with a 32 year old attacker on longterm deals. We've done reasonably well to shift old players in the last two years to the overall benefit of young talents coming through. I don't think we should go back to how things used to be.

Get Partey, Aouar and Ramsey on loan to give them time to bed in. Everyone's happy.
