We need that amount of talent to compete. This was the level of Chelsea's investment last season, it is not undoable for a super rich owner who wants change.

Of course Jones is right though, without a proper manager they are nothing. Give this squad to Arteta and he will finish 8th.

Did you think Chelsea were on City's level before Tuchel joined them?

If you go through my posts this season I have consistently said that chelsea has much better talent than us. I never bought into this illusion that we have the talent to compete with them. Both Chelsea and Arsenal suffered from inferior managers who vastly underperformed given the talent they have. I have also been regularly saying that Arteta is several points off pace as well. So we do have a better squad than 10th but Tuchel is not beating Real Madrid and City twice with this team.

Jones, Arsenal has three distinct challenges. You have to tackle each of them separately

Arsenal does not have the money to, like Manchester City, build a team with quality depth and quickly cycle through signings until it finds the perfect fit for its vision.
What money Arsenal does have, it doesn’t spend efficiently because it lacks clarity in vision, leading to excess purchases, delayed sales and free exits.
Arsenal has had hired inferior managers to oversee its squad.

Ziyech's goal and the entire build-up to it shows how far off we are from these teams technically.

It really is disheartening.

Also wish we had someone like Pulisic. That relentless pace and dribbling in central areas. We could probably have similar if Arteta let Pepe and/or ESR actually do their thing FFS.

Pulisic had our defenders on toast in the FA Cup. It was a blessing when he came ofd because he’s so hard to stop when he cuts in. Add to that Havertz, Mount and all the other guys they have. It’s a treasury.

Pépé had their defence on toast as well.

The same Chelsea you guys are praising were easily swept aside at the Emirates only a few months ago. They certainly didn’t look like a team with vastly superior talent that day.

Tuchel has done an incredible job. Have a feeling he will win the UCL for the chavs and this time round it will be deserved

This is revealing. Odegaard would have to be significantly cheaper than Buendia for us to buy him. We should actually get use the detailed data when talking to Real to bring the price down, but Buendia should be our first target

Should have signed him last summer instead of fucking Willian. Everyone knows now. He's going to be incredibly expensive if they're even selling.

The most impressive stat isn't even showing in that diagram. Bloke's incredibly press resistant, among the extreme elite in Europe over the past two seasons. You just can't mark him.

There was a lot of things we should have done last summer re the rebuild, but agreed re Buendia.
IIRC he was already on the radar in his 1st season at Norwich when the got promoted 2 seasons ago.

Caveat being that he plays in the championship for a fairly dominant team.

Wasn't he super-productive in the Championship in 2018/19 as well and his productivity was shot to hell in 2019/20 in the PL? Maybe that's just a reflection of playing with Norwich and will change in a better team, but something to watch out for.

It's hard to compare. Buendia is all action style David Silva type of playmaker, Ode is intelligent and more of an Ozil.

This guy talks nonsense, he's another Kike who's latched onto the exposure Arsenal twitter gives him so makes up a couple of stories each window.

I have to say if Odegaard is going to cost us £50m odd then I'd love it if we could add another £10-15m or so to get Grealish instead. We desperately need someone to speed up our game and I think he's compliment the kids really well.
