It makes no sense. The reason they have the Super League is because they are no longer beholden to Uefa in this one competition. A few things happen
- they can negotiate bigger deals for their own teams because they are all guaranteed super league revenue into perpetuity. None of this risk of falling into Europa. So no more Nike and Chevrolet claw backs
- they maximize euro revenues. It’s a minimum of 14 massive games every season for them.
- they are in charge of negotiating extra deals. Now on top of the TV deal, they can go negotiate a Facebook or Twitter deal for shorts.
This is about making significantly more money. It is not about taking the same money and holding spending still. You will see revenues increase significantly, and you will see massive player deals come out of this. Even after all of that, they’ll still be much better off.
