To be honest I think it was a bigger misjudgement not to take him back when we had the buyback clause since his quality was obvious at that point.

Maybe he didn't want to come back? Surely the clause only works if he wants to come back.

End of the day some slip through your fingers for whatever reason, we've got a decent record in that respect. Around that time the club wasn't exactly being run well either so these things happen.

bennacer and gnabry are the only two sales we can look back with regret from the late Wenger and emery years. most other sales like ox, gibbs, iwobi, ramsey etc. were well justified

In terms of value though definitely alot more sales to regret. But in terms of how their career turned out you are right.

Martinez as well if you ask me.

How was Lamptey yesterday? Last time I saw him he seemed to be a bit lethargic, and off the boil. Are his injuries definitely a thing of the past now?

Starting it early.

Danilo, Mudryk. Lets complete these in January to get a full complete squad

Christopher Nkunku. Risk it all in January

Danilo and Neto, hopefully Wolves are midtable safe from relegation and not challenging for Europa spots at this time. Find the cash somehow.

Does Neto really raise the level?
I sat and watched a recording of the City - Forest game last night. This guy Haaland can do whatever he wants. He is faster, stronger and jumps higher than everyone. It's a fucking joke. We need players who raise the level. We have a great base now. Get Nkunku.

Doesn't Nkunku have a release clause that's activated in the summer? And it's pretty cheap so he's basically ensured himself the Haaland treatment - that he can pick and choose among every club. Reckon RM will go hard for him.

We can start to put ourselves in these conversation now. Real Madrid and Barcelona are a different kettle of fish obviously, but within England I feel like we are the most attractive club for him to come to after Manchester City. Our trajectory is exciting. Fans on board.

Should probably get back into the CL for the first time in ages until we claim to be the second most attractive club in the country!

Anyway, of course I'd love him here but just don't see RM not going for him.

Where would you play him, in Xhaka's 8 role?

That's first choice. But he can also play any of the front 3 roles. So we can rotate Saka, Martinelli, Jesus a bit more.

no way he'd consider us, he's a Madrid level signing. Outperformed Haaland in Germany last season, same Haaland who's scoring/assisting twice per game in England so far.

Also not sure it's a great idea to pull a forward who scored 35 and assisted 20 last season into midfield.

He’s a top player. Not on Haaland’s level but then nobody is

Mbappe is still the best forward in the world. Haaland is unreal but he's been unreal before his five games at City, consistency is a bit iffy and injuries are a big concern. If he can overcome those he'll challenge Mbappe
