The group stages of the Champions aren't a million miles removed. Most of the British teams usually romp it. That's not my saying Patino and Balogun should play, only that there are a lot of shit teams that make it there
Does anyone know where we would be seeded if we were to make it into the CL? Chances are we'd be the second best team in our group, so I do think we lack numbers right now, we'd have to play a strong team in the CL while not falling behind in the league. Reintegrating Pepe is the first step towards that, with him, Martinelli, ESR and Saka we're looking exceptionally strong on the wings, but it leaves us with just Laca as a CF, so ideally we do get two strikers in, a capable backup for Tomiyasu, a Xhaka replacement and I'd like another body in midfield that can also deputise at FB if needed. Alternatively we could just keep Laca and Xhaka, but especially the latter we really should sell this summer, because I think it's the last chance we're gonna get to get a good fee for him.
So basically, I'd like us to go for Fabian Ruiz, Alexander Isak and Djed Spence, while keeping Maitland-Niles around and finding a relatively cheap backup option for Isak. Although with Martinelli and Pépé around, we could also get a winger in if we don't find a suitable centre forward.
