goon Nah you don't score so many goals at youth level if you are not special tbh. The last 3 strikers who scored that many for us was Lupoli, Akpom and Afobe.

Clrnc Pretty sure they didn't score as many goals as him when they were 16. The level might be low but if it's so easy to score 25 goals in 9 games why don't we see our youth strikers manage similar numbers every year? I'm all for not hyping youth players excessively but the complete dismissing of his achievements so far are really odd.

Anyway, lets see how does with the u21's next season. Great players make it look easy and he certainly manages that at u18 level.

His goals are all based off movement, technique and finishing rather than physicality at least to be fair to him, but that standard is so low you can't really tell much.

I think his technique is lacking personally. Most of those shots bobble into the goal. Clean ball striking is essential for a forward imo.

Im always skeptical on heaping crazy expectations and praise on young players who can score bags of goals in an U18 side. As Clrnc said, Lupoli, Afobe and Akpom scored tons of goals for the youth team too, and look where they ended up. Afobe and Akpom have had OK careers, but not tearing it up anywhere, and Lupoli, well, he did just about nothing.

USArsenal it’s fine to be excited. Per your point, most 16 year olds don’t make it to the premier league. But let’s see where he goes. both this guy and Nwaneri are highly rated beyond Arsenal, which we haven’t had since the Saka/ESR/Nketiah group.

I think his size has easily let him excel in the youth team. The lad is 6'2" and at that age, that's a huge advantage. Lets see if he can continue his crazy scoring record against some of the older and bigger players. It will be interesting to see. It is great to see a few players in the youth team getting closer to the first team. Hopefully he develops a bit more and can use his size to great advantage.

You know youth coverage has gone to another level when people are talking about the new Nwaneri when the original is still in diapers himself.

I watched the kids in Crystal Palace’s East London development/scouting program. Very high level and these 5-8 olds are the ones who’ve not been deemed good enough to be taken into the academy yet.

Yeah, he's been there for 8 Premier League matches this season, one in each domestic cup and away to PSV, all without getting 5 minutes on the pitch.

Not gonna critique Arteta about it as our approach has yielded beautiful results, but it's pretty easy to understand why, as Walters, you'd be keen to move on.

great mentality. i don't trust players who think the pinnacle of their careers is saying they play for a big club. go out there and play.
