I’m not expecting much from the youth to be honest. We’ve had another of our golden generation. The one I would look out for is Brooke Norton Cuffy. He’s been the youngest player, 17 1/2 now in the games I’ve seen last season, but was always the most physically dominant. Could be our answer to Reece James without the chunky body.

Other than that, just waiting for Balogun’s return

Patino is clearly very talented too and seems to have transitioned fairly well into senior football. Can definitely see him taking up a spot as cover next season.

I have high hopes for Mika Biereth. Really intelligent modern center forward.

He was the best player in U18s in England only a year ago (for Fulham from where we poached him) and had an impressive first year in U21s.

It is a shame that he got injured after tearing it in pre-season for Waalwijck and has missed the start of season in Erdivisie.

15yr old Ethan Nwaneri trained with the first team today after some U21 appearances recently. Kid must be very highly rated.

Yeah, he is very highly rated.

I think there is also an element about keeping his camp satisfied by showing that he is highly valued here by fast tracking him when we can.

There is apparently a very solid interest to snag him up by Liverpool before he can sign even a scholarship deal.

This 15 year old kid came out of nowhere.

Anyone know how good he is? Must be some talent to get on the bench at this age and of course his cameo.

We have so many good youngsters coming through, we are sorted for years in theory.

He's supposed to be a big talent but him even being on the bench seems like a political call mostly since apparently half the league wants him, Liverpool have been linked the most. Haven't watched him but a 15yo who got a goal and three assists in four games at U18 and U21 level sounds promising

Can play every position ahead of the backline from the sounds of it

It is pretty much 100% political. Honestly, I cant fault the club for doing everything in their power to keep him around.

If his family/agent still think that Liverpool is the best place for him, then I don't know what else we can do to keep him.

Even if he leaves, I think it's good policy to give some of these young players a trip and a couple of minutes on the pitch, make them feel like they're part of something. Has to mean a lot to them. Must've been exciting for Lino Sousa today as well …

Yeah it's good the club's learning from past mistakes, Hutchinson is still very much in the air but losing Musah for free because we didn't give them a route into the first team definitely hurts.

Yeah, from what I have read it is mostly Per's doing.

Other youngsters who we seem to be fast tracking are Myles Lewis-Skelly (similar playing profile and age group to Nwaneri) who should be debuting for U21s this year and Chido Obi, a striker who just turned 14, who made his debut for U18 yesterday.

Yeah, the fact that we had the same youth players on the bench for more or less every game in the second half of last season and none of them got a game is crazy. I don't really understand the point of putting these guys in the squad but never playing them - Hutchinson could easily have played a few minutes albeit his move to Chelsea definitely seems hasty.

As much as there are some politics at play behind his inclusion in the squad, you have to think Arteta must see something in him to hand him the title of youngest ever PL player...the pressure on him is going to be pretty big if he doesn't have the talent (or the mentality) to back it up.

Hutchinson also apparently got a very good salary thanks to the move.

Chelsea are paying four times more than what we were offering as his pro-contract.
