I’ve been really impressed with Joe’s stint with Newcastle so far. Already looking much more involved and willing to be the difference maker than he has in most of his PL appearances with us, where he generally would play within himself and get lost a bit during games.

Think him seeing how good he really is compared to some of these blokes is doing him the world of good. He’s probably turned up to train up there and recognised straight away that he’s better than any of the cloggers they have turning out in midfield.

It must be doing his confidence wonders.

He’s still struggling to get anything tangible out of his involvements, but that was never an issue in his EL appearances so i have faith in him to figure that side of things out.

I’m coming around to him.

Bruce said something along those lines too I think. They weren't sure initially if they were going to include him for his first game because he arrived just one or two days before, but after one training they realised they had to play him.

The point about confidence is good. I think he lacked a little bit of that too when he played for us in Premier League this season. He'd push forward and then get dispossessed because he didn't commit fully to it. I think once he realises that those long legs have half a yard's advantage over most opponents he'll be really hard to stop. His running style is a little bit Vieira-like to me (no other comparisons).

The main thing I'd like him to improve on while he's out on loan is his decision making. He has a habit of holding onto the ball too long and trying to make the telling contribution himself.

Sounds like an odd thing to say but he needs to simplify his game. Play more quick, simple passes and feel his way into games. For example he has a habit of waiting for people to make runs, but when you yourself have great movement just play a simple ball and make the run yourself.

It’s his off the ball play I’d like to see improve. Run into the right places. Receive and run or give back. Will make him much more lethal. He’s an incredible athlete and is growing more confident. Just fix that decision making

liked the snippets I've seen of him. this might hint that there's no new deal on the table for lacazette. I have hopes for balogun and martinelli being internal solutions to replace him

Nketiah and Laca out, Auba, Martinelli and Balogun as the striker options. It's thin since there are two unknowns, but it's not like the options we have now are constantly great either so I don't think we'll lose much. Also we don't need to play one striker up top and another on the wing so that's a quick fix to get better striker depth. Use the funds to strengthen other positions.

It's great news if true, but I believe it when I see it. There have been too many reports like this when it comes to Balogun and then nothing materialises.
