I thought the same thing. To be fair we've sent a lot of people out on loan who would have been of high U23 quality otherwise though. Not sure what the situation is like at Chelsea, but guys like John-Jules and Matt Smith would have been among the best players on this pitch. We have put out a young side tonight.

Yeah, I was going to say 'Bould out' but it must be impossible to coach with so much ins and outs. Still, it's impressive from Chelsea if nothing else.

I have to agree with Goon, Alebiosu doesn't look good, or has a bad night at the very least.

We have to start giving Nelson minutes in the first team. I can't think of a single good argument for including Willian on the bench ahead of him.

Does anyone know if our defenders tonight are really young or inexperienced? I don't want to be too harsh on a bunch of kids, but our defence is just not there. There's no cohesion or coordination. They look like they've never played a minute together before.

I think Kirk is really young and from the U18s, the other chap is the one who was released by Spurs. I think it was Jeorge Bird who suggested he was basically brought in so we could loan out our regular centre backs.

That makes sense. I thought Kirk looked underdeveloped physically compared to the others, but that's probably why.

Really is a Wilshere clone in the way he moves and plays the game. Was going to say he's lacking physically but then realised the fucker only just turned 17 in October.

I agree, it doesn't look like many players from this U23 side are ready for first team involvement except Nelson and maybe Cottrell. And Cottrell is just not there physically yet. I've never realized before that he's Cazorla-sized. Might delay his first team chances somewhat but he seems like an intelligent player otherwise.

Disappointing first half from Möller and Balogun in particular I thought. Both of them have received a bit of attention on social media but they've been schooled by Chelsea's forwards who look a lot more lively and involved. They need to raise their level in the second half.

You can see it so clearly in the small moves he makes as he wiggles around to find a better angle. He tried to find something positive to do with the ball every time he got it. It's going to be interesting to see what he looks like in a year or two.

Unfortunately Yes. Lopez is highly rated (poached from la masia) but has lost a lot of time thanks to injuries.

Full back is the area where some of these youngsters can quickly stake a claim for the first team places but we have nobody who can be termed a great talent coming through.

On the other hand, we seem to have a huge number of promising talents in the midfield and at center back.
