Balogun’s been captaining the reserves for some time now so don’t think there’s anything to read into that.

Sad to see Reiss being reduced to playing reserve football; should really have gone on loan.

Möller has been doing really well recently, hasn't he? Seems like another forward talent who we might get some mileage out of in the first team.

Shame Azeez is out but I'm glad to be able to watch Patino for the first time, let's see that the hype is about. Hope to see Nelson take a senior role here too, his quality should shine through.

I really do wonder what's going on with Balogun, if he'd agreed a deal with another club you'd have thought he'd sign by now. Either they are still negotiating, or he's joining another English side in which case they can't 'talk' to them until April.

The latter feels like the most likely scenario to me. At this stage it would be better for us if he went to another club in England I reckon. Since we offered him such a big deal we'll get a few million more out of that switch than we would if he goes abroad.

Honestly on the Balogun side of things, I think there's still a chance he'll sign for us. My reading of the situation is that both sides are playing hard ball and have reached an impasse. Pretty sure we won't change our stance so it comes down to whether Balogun wants to stay or not. And if he waits until the summer and sees Laca leaving, Eddie potentially too, then I think he might end up staying. Not saying that will in fact happen but I definitely don't think it's a fait a complit.

Chelsea look like they are levels better than us. I don't think our forwards have touched the ball in the first 16 minutes. Nelson has had a few touches because he drops so deep but that's about it.

I thought the same thing. To be fair we've sent a lot of people out on loan who would have been of high U23 quality otherwise though. Not sure what the situation is like at Chelsea, but guys like John-Jules and Matt Smith would have been among the best players on this pitch. We have put out a young side tonight.

Balogun is looking a bit lazy, not a lot of mileage in those boots tonight. Frustrated by the lack of an attacking game from us perhaps.
