Only 3 of the 'British core' had any real hype to them though both Jack and Rambo justified the hype (though Jack would soon suffer from having glass legs). Ox was the real disappointment and both Jenko and Gibbo had detractors.

Nelson must act. At 21, he is the same age that Gnabry was when he deceptively left for Hoffenheim. He really should’ve done a season long loan. Now is still a good time for a loan with over half the season left.

Maybe Stuttgart. We already have Mavropanos there who plays every game. The forwards rotate a fair amount, so maybe there is opportunity for Nelson to a slot in. He needs to step up now or his career might become a forgotten man.

His injury issues are rarely talked about, but almost feels like he is as bad as Smith-Rowe, at least the last 2 seasons (even last season, I remember him being injured a lot especially early in the season). Not sure how he was in earlier seasons.

There are a lot of people who rated Gibbs over Monreal, which is ridiculous no matter which way you look at it.

And don't forget Jenko's first 3 months with us. Only Klaus consistently shit on him, but there are many of us who thought he was a pretty decent young player to the point he was called up for England ffs.

I enjoyed watching Jenkinson more than I ever did Gibbs. The former made the most of his limited talent, and while Gibbs is a better player he's never inspired me in the least. He was always a passenger who was more willing to pass back than Xhaka.

Yeah Gibbs was insanely infuriating. Worst thing about it he used to be pretty adventurous when he broke through.

I liked Gibbo. Never rated him high but he wasn't a huge concern and iirc made multiple season-saving tackles.
When Monreal first joined he looked well off the pace, but soon deservedly took Gibbo's spot.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert

Gibbs looked a huge talent when he broke through in 2007, and then in 2009 he had his best year to date. He looked class in everything he did.

Then he got a serious injury near the end of it I think. Start of his ending.

I saw Gibbs’s debut at the Emirates Cup in 2007 v Inter Milan (RVP got the winner).

I thought he was going to be the new Ashley Cole, unfortunately, I over estimated his ceiling and he had a very stop start career with Arsenal with injuries. Seems like a good bloke and model pro.

That's the game I first saw him in. He played left midfield.

He had decent raw attributes but zero footballing brain he just reacted to situations after they happened.
