Nah, sign him to a good contract and send him away. We can always sell him later. The types of people interested in him should tell us we are pulling a Bennacer.

Nothing will ever convince me Wenger made that signing, towards the end it felt like Gazidis and Wenger were not on the same wavelength and most signings were being driven by Gazidis and the StatDNA data. Agreed. You don't train Henry and Anelka and then actively ask for Welbeck and Lacazette. We may have come into the money towards the end of Wenger's reign, but we were basically trying to buy caviar in Lidl. And for the record, Wenger didn't wait for anything. He wanted Suarez, Higuain and Vardy during Giroud's tenure at the club.

Wenger's problem was indecision and not forcing the board to just get the deal done, he got too involved in wanting to get value rather than just getting the fucking player! Even players like Xhaka & Mustafi, I read a while back were signed based off StatDNA data.

i don't believe that for a second. you don't spend 70m on players based on analytics. statdna's research alone might lead to taking a flyer on a 10m player, but not 35m. their data might have been used to confirm some things they scouted, but trying to put 70m on them ... nahhhh.

It's not like it makes a difference anyway because they were very good transfers at the time. They didn't work out, either because of their own inability to adapt, bad coaching or external factors. The issue is not replacing them when they looked to be beyond salvaging.

because of why he left. after gazidis departed he wanted the job that edu had under raul and raul didn't think he was even worthy of having that much decision making power. so he clearly didn't have the power to control our transfer strategy. he was a glorified scout here and that's a shame.

have we ever had this many good youth prospects in the history of the PL? I mean, it's not just the 2-3 players right now.

I don't think so. What's exciting is above all the quality they seem to possess. We used to hope that maybe we could unearth a good squad player among guys like Afobe, Akpom, Merida, etc but neither of them ever made a start in Premier League for all their hype. Guys like Saka, Eddie, Willock, Nelson and Smith-Rowe had already surpassed them at the age of eighteen and they're bound to be followed by Cottrell, Azeez and Balogun soon. And those are just the academy kids which don't include imports like Martinelli.

I don’t get the hype these days though. Saka is the only one who seems to be mustard. Rest are Jenkinson.
