Olly g is in his goalscoring bag. Our back 3 have to swarm and neutralise him. We've been godawful on setpieces as well, that's probably the thing I'm nost worried about

I just worry about Holding. Wish we were using Sokratis instead but Arteta has taken a consistent position across the squad that departing players aren’t given minutes. Giroud works a defense and he’s full of jammy goals. It’s not all beautiful headers. And Holding really requires the defensive recovery speed of AMN, especially with Pulisic ghosting about. We would be stunted with Bellerin out there.

That forces us to start Saka on the left. No Kola in the cup!

Holding is soft and weak in the air. Giroud would have him for dinner.

Can’t believe I’m saying this but we’ll miss Mustafi.

It is what it is. Tierney has only ever played on the left of a back 3 or as the full back in back 4 or 5 for Celtic and Scotland. We likely won’t deploy him and Luiz in a straight 2 man defense in a 433. Maybe we try the 433 with Luiz - Saliba next season. These defenders are so bad they are robbing us a central midfielder.

Yeah, same for me, put some good money on Chelsea just in case...wash the sorrow away. But I think we will do well, it's Wembley...our place.

I understand but also struggle to go with this because I remember when we sold Stapleton to MU and Kennedy to LFC before then, or Thomas to LFC after '89, so none of this is new for me and selling to a rival within the domestic league is nothing untoward.

Our gamblers always seem to do it as a hedge. That way they get a consolation prize if we lose. Seems reasonable to me.

I dont get how winning an extra £50 or £100 can make up for losing to Chelsea? If you bet £1000 or £2000 then that is a different question.

But if we lose I will be pissed off, £100 wont make me feel any better.

If some of you are so worried about Holding you could wish deploy Xhaka in the back 3 and pair Ceballos with Willock/Torriera.

Assuming Bellerin is injured and wasn't rested, this is my wish team:
Martinez; Holding, Luiz, Tierney; Maitland-Niles, Xhaka, Torriera, Saka; Pépé, Nketiah, Aubamayeng.

Willock and Torreira add zero to the starting line-up, unfortunately. I don't think Willock ever finishes any game he starts. He is strictly a come on and stretch the game player. Torreira is finished. Carrion for newly promoted clubs to come and pick on

Feels weird to say it, but it sucks that Mustafi is injured for this one. Our game plan against City wouldn't have worked if they had an aerial threat we couldn't deal with. Chelsea have Giroud and Mustafi is the only one who's any good in the air.

You can almost consider a back 2 with Mustafi-Luiz, Quince. I think part of the issue has also been the lack of a 3rd midfielder who truly elevates us enough to go that route. We will miss Mustafi. yuck

Famous last words maybe but Giroud isn't all that in the air and as far as centre forwards go he really shouldn't be someone that gives us nightmares.

This game will be won and lost in midfield, Arteta did really well to nullify City and he needs to do the same to Chelsea's midfield. Desperately need Laca to have a good game.

That was an epic FA Cup final, fond memories of Holding vs Costa and a fantastic goal from Ox/Monreal (special place in my heart for fullbacks linking up).

Would go with a back three of Holding, Luiz and Tierney with AMN and Bellerin on the flanks. We don't have much height in the team so reckon we need to keep Holding in there particularly for set pieces.

Wild card is to drop Lacazette and Nketiah to the bench and bring in Nelson. Hopefully that encourages more and better possession in midfield and pray that Pepe and Auba can do enough up top. Means we have Saka and those two as potent options off the bench.
