Top performance

They tried shooting from distance but didn't threaten a whole lot

Of course Auba will get the headlines but top top performances from-

Xhaka- Great positioning and distribution
Luiz- A colossus today
Martinez- He's got some aura about him that makes you feel confident. It's the exact opposite of Almunia and early Fabianski days. Some decent saves and did well under pressure.
Tierney- Fast becoming one of the league's best LB's. If he can stay fit the 25m will be money more than well spent.

AND finally you can't tell me that the first 45 mins against a top city team is something you've ever seen even on Emery's best day as an arsenal manager.

Just need the same focus against the relegation stragglers. Impressed. We didn’t even need the golden boy Saka. I’m so blown away by what I’ve seen today. Aubameyang, Tierney, Xhaka and Luiz were bosses

I love how Martinez takes 7 years to collect a ball haha

he's worth the wait.

Fucking proud of our boys and manager. What a performance!

Whatever Maitland-Niles has done to get more playing time I hope it's enough to make the club hell-bent on keeping him this summer. What a bloody performance that was from him.

We have a surprisingly good chemistry in the team despite the horrorshow this season has been.
I didn't see us winning today, but it was a fantastic win. Game of the season for me.

#Arsenal have eliminated (or beaten in final) the holders of the FA Cup on each of the last six occasions we've faced them:
2001 v Chelsea
2002 v Liverpool
2005 v Man Utd
2007 v Liverpool
2014 v Wigan
2020 v Man City

Genuinely not a weak performance from anyone. Hector, Laca and Mustafi did their jobs well enough, everyone else was great.

Back three were actually brilliant.
Wing backs were great.
Xhaka was fantastic. Dani good too.
Pepe and Laca were professional.
Auba clinical.

Great game, love it.

What a performance by the team. Get in!

Well done Mikel and the boys!

Be well funny if Spurs finish 7th and we then win the cup to deny them Europa

Don't look at me.

Best win since our FA Cup final beating of Chelsea in 2017.

There are imminent things that I am worried about but screw that. You sum it up!!!
So happy for the club and all of us!

Aubamayeng knackered 😆

I may have said things during the game but really don't think anyone should be picked out for scrutiny. Great team win.

Great game, so happy. Just slap that bald head of Peps

31% possesion vs Liverpool, 29% now. 2 wins, feel good to be the ones that win like that for a change

Love how concentrated and down to earth Luiz was at the final whistle. Didn't celebrate, ran over to AMN to talk to him. I hope he is asking him to stay, certainly feels that way. Nobody can say Luiz is not playing for the club, as committed as ever.

AMN is one of the best wingbacks we have, left or right. Can we please not let him go. If we want to build a back 3 he must be a automatic starter for us. 1v1 and strength in duels he is amazing.

Luiz in a back 3 is probably the first name on the team sheet. He was unbeatable today, won every challenge and was great in passing too.

Xhaka and Ceballos as a midfield pair in a 343, I think I mentioned enough how compatible they are as a duo. Top performance from both, especially Xhaka.

I love how every save Martinez make, the ball is more likely to stick to his hands.

Auba MOTM and ran his heart out for us, Tierney a close second with a ridiculously world class performance

Appreciate the battling performance from the rest of our players.

It could happen that we win finish 8th behind Spurs in 7th
And save St Totts for the FA Cup final.

We aren't giving up (m)any clear cut chances. We are making it hard and it isn't pretty but we haven't looked this comfortable before with men behind the ball. Whatever Arteta is doing in training is working.

Choosing to pass when it counts.

WE LOVE YOU ARSENALLLLL
ARSENAL FC
YOU’RE BY FARRR,
THE GREATEST TEAM THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN

Yep, but we created our chances today, we had a long-ish spell of good possession in the first half, we could have scored more goals and we defended better ( at least IMO).

While watching it, I was thinking there's a clear structure and pattern in both our games against City and Liverpool in our deep block defending.

Can't have learned that from Pep, never see a Pep team defend like this before. It actually reminds me of our 2-0 win at Ettithad under Wenger few years ago.

Not sure about the rules but that should have us in Europe league if chelsea/utd already qualify for it or the cl.

No. Just the winner now.

Yep, and we actually had more shots on target than they did. We still need to be more creative, but the same criticism can easily be levelled at City today. They were sloppy and toothless and deserved nothing from this.

So so so thrilled with these performances!

I know Luiz is MOTM, but Aubameyang, fuck me, what a performance. Most likeable arsenal player since Cesc for me.

Nice to see you around again! Everything alright mate?

WEMBERLEEEEEEEEE
WEMBERLEEEEEEEE

WE’RE THE FAMOUS ARSENAL AND WE’RE GOING TO WEMBERLEE!!!

Mikel really planned for this game. You can see that he understands City. He was very happy to put 10 men at the top of the box and force them to cross the ball in the air knowing a) they don’t cross as well as Pool and b) our centrebacks will eat everything up anyway.

And as risky as it felt, he did a good job of building our confidence and breaking through their first two lines of defense by playing on the floor from our goalkeeper. Unlike Pool, they don’t have Fabinho, Gomez and Van Dijk in behind once you’ve crossed the first two lines of defense so this was such a smart approach.

I heart our manager.

This was no fluke. We've conceded less goals the moment Mikel came in (jarring restart aside), and our compact deep block has been on showcase since Wolves.

They made a point in commentary about how we pass with much more purpose now. Lots more pace and fizz.
