Unfortunately I can see Messi ending up at manU or Chelsea: they got CL and obscene amounts of money, and are the only ones of the traditional super clubs that would wreck their finances to sign him.

Yup this is the reason they don’t want to resign, this is why they’re doing dodgy deals to cover the losses. They’ve mismanaged the club for so long they know they’re fucked. I believe he has bought the election forward and probably is working out with accountants that when he loses how they can walk away without coughing up any money.

It'll come down to legal interpretation as always. If the clause was there so he could decide what to do after the 19/20 season, and now Barca are claiming that a new season is already underway because they didn't finish the last one in time due to covid, then he probably has a strong case.

Messi has carried Barcelona to several league titles by himself, how many players can say that. If anyone deserves a chance to fuck off its him.

Agreed.

The clause of course states a time in June, because the “normal” season would have already finished by then. What was he going to do, trigger the clause while football came back from Covid during la liga, which they were still fighting for, and before the CL knockout rounds ? 😆
