There is some insane hyperbole associated in the football media regarding the potential Havertz move to Chelsea.
I just heard some pundit saying that Havertz is on par with Ballack/Ozil combined at their peaks.
Clearly the guy hasn't seen Ballack/Ozil play when they were at their peaks.
how good do you think Havertz is? can he be their next hazard? have to say, he has that indifferent vibe like Ozil when I saw him play vs Inter in the UEL.
Re Koulibaly: Interesting to see City jump to buy him after a poor season. I'm not sure KK could do what VVD did for Liverpool and I think the concerns of going to a more physically demanding league are valid. Pep is being like that girl who eases her worries by shopping excessively; only City would consider paying 80-90m euros for a 29 year old CB. Next on the shopping list is another highly expensive LB 😆
I'm not convinced that magically pumping in more money is the solution to their UCL woes, it's more with Pep's obsession with tinkering the team.
With city, it is the type of player rather than money. In theory Koulibaly fits a need.
Would Lyon’s Dembele, Cornet, Depay etc been able to run at Koulibaly and panic him? City needs more physicality and pace. Too often, when a pacy opponent counters, they simply are all over the place. Look vs spurs last year? How often did Son and Moura panic City? Look at City vs Liverpool at Anfield since Pep has been there, a joke when they should be so good at retaining the ball and taking the sting out of the game.
Guardiola needs another physical defender alongside Koulibaly, but the fact they have bought Ake, means that is the shopping done at the back. Ake is not overly physical, and on the small side, but has decent pace so it will be interesting to see.
There next signing should be a midfielder in the mould of Partey, or maybe slightly more defensive. I would buy Ndidi if I was Pep, that is exactly what they need, a dogged determination to win the ball back.
