You just have to look at our 6 to 8 central defensive men to know that we have a dysfunctional technical team. The injuries haven’t helped but the accumulation of mediocre talent in that part of the field is Exhibit A in Arsing Around.

I really like Kamara as you know because he has an excellent reading of the game, and plays like a central midfielder on the ball. He'd fit Arteta perfectly. Positional versatility as well

Mancini is making his move to Roma permanent now - it was loan + transfer. But that was about £20m, which is what we've spent on various losers in defence. Missed opportunity

Another guy we could look at is Fofana at St Etienne, which is why we could regret screwing them around. He's an absolute beast in the air, tackles strongly, and is a powerful runner with the ball. Not the great distributor that our Saliba is, but would be a nice complement.
