Has been doing the rounds for a while. Another Kia player-

Arsenal were ready to give Chelsea forward Willian a £250,000-a-week contract before the coronavirus pandemic struck.

It will be interesting to see whether Arsenal follow through with a deal for the 31-year-old Brazilian who becomes a free agent this summer because of the financial implications and current spotlight on the transfer set-up at the club.

Free agents generally get bigger deals but Arsenal may struggle to hit that figure now.
One expert believes contracts for run-of-the-mill free agents could drop by 50 per cent and even better ones like Willian, Jan Vertonghen and Adam Lallana could get 25 per cent less.
Super agent Kia Joorabchian is of course Willian’s agent and no-one can deny he is having an increasing influence at Arsenal.
However, the club have been quick to point out that the Iranian is not technical director Edu’s agent and never has been.

Fuck that, we've already got a similar player in Pepe. I can't imagine how shit our team would be if we had Willian and Pepe in the same frontline.

I will assume that this is just an attempt to rile up an already on-edge fan base.

No fuck off. Last thing we need is a 31 year old winger who was never top tier in the first place. We might as well just bring Walcott back, at least it'd be cheaper and he hasn't been at Chelsea for years.

Willian is good but that’s just daft money.

Wonder if we could get Mata? He’s old enough and not really first team material at one of our rivals

Probs stick with the Kia route mind so Willian and Coutinho it will be

Even at his peak, other than some freekicks he is so toothless.

Would rather Mata, because we need some creativity....but no need for pensioners at this point

The press name drops kia in every article now. This dude is getting more press than he's had in years

And we already have Pepe for free kicks.

a month later

Another factor is that Chelsea, who face Bayern Munich in the last 16 of the Champions League the following weekend, do not want to lose Willian for nothing to a rival. Brinkmanship is the order of the day. Two years or three years? There is little room for manoeuvre and unless one side blink, the smart money is on Willian joining David Luiz in north London.

from guardian

Also kia says he has offers from PL clubs

Kia needs to fuck off and die. What good is a bloody pandemic if it spares people like this?

😆

If we sign Willian someone needs to investigate Rauls accounts because there is no way any one would sign Willian to Arsenal at the moment for footballing reasons.

He's scored like 9 in the league and has another 7-8 assists.

That's a better return than any of our wide players.

Factor in his work rate.

Probably not worth a 3 year deal but he's not a bad option for 1-2 years.

Problem is, he wants a 3 year deal. If he is willing to settle for 2 years he would have signed the contract Chelsea offered him

Just stick that money into someone like Freakish if possible, or play Nelson if not possible.

I actually rate William, even now, but it would be a regressive move.

Is Freakish Capi-speak for Grealish?

That's google autocorrect for Grealish!

If willian was the guy available for a 1 year loan, id actually take him over coutinho any day of the week. He's still pretty sharp. Unfortunately a loan isnt on the table, and a permanent deal would just be a waste of resources

The thing is each of these individual deals for these pensioners on their own look small, but they add and you quickly realise that we have thrown away large wages on the income statement side and added nothing to the balance sheet. It's a disaster! No to Willian. No to Coutinho. And sign Ceballos already.

I struggle to see Willian as a starting player on his wages even as a free agent when we have given Saka #7.

I don't think we sign any of Coutinho, Willian or Partey without both UEL next season & with PEA/Laca also staying.

Some pensioner eh

Granted he's not getting younger but that beats the output of any of our wide players.

That's aside his work rate which is on another level to Pepe.

Aubameyang is a wide player and he scored 23 goals.

I'm convinced. let's put all our money in the pensioner.
Zlatan is also one of the best strikers in Europe right now. Hopefully, we stick some cash in him too

Yeah, very convenient to ignore one of our two starting wide players. 😆

Can't see Willian coming here and keeping that level of intensity. More likely to breeze through his stay here en route to retirement. Dont sign him.

He can stay at Chelsea.

Native Portuguese speakers in conversation shocker. Gabi is probably ordering Nando's.

If signing him means we can allocate more funds to signing a CB, DM & CM then I could probably live with it. Don't think we will have enough money to also sign a top wide player as well.

Willian has refused another bid from Chelsea to extend his contract until June 2022. Still no agreement. Arsenal are now in talks with his representatives to sign him as a free agent - no bids from Barcelona at the moment.

Its happening. We can't give this guy a multi year deal surely.

Yep...all over the press now. Looks like it will happen, don't like it one bit, at least I hope it's just a 2 year deal.
This means Auba as a striker?

He wants a 3 year deal. We really should not do it.

Probably means we are saving the funds for central midfield and centre back. Which is understandable.

I'm ok with it. Sell Laca, move Auba up top. £40m odd to spend elsewhere.

If Auba moves central, then Saka, Nelson, Pepe and Willian is not a terrible set of wingers, but it's far from great.

If we can get willian and another winger while selling Laca then that's great.

Willian is a good experienced pro who still is performing at the top level.

Zaha would be great if he can come cheaper.
