Silver lining is that money is not the problem. Arteta needs to meet the Ghost of Christmas Future at this point. His approach does not have the trust of the squad. I'm reminded of how Emery was accused of being a boring disciplinarian, but I think we'd all take that right now ...

We're going to need that half a season to learn like babies to do the basics in attack and restore a little pride. The Board will start the process as there seems no prospect of an adequate response under the current leadership.

There was always a possibility when someone as powerful as Wenger steps down, you get infested by parasites. There were already quite a few starting the leeching process during the back 9 of Wenger's tenure, but now its like whack-a-mole. layabouts, incompetents, turncoats and leeches at every level of the club. Hopefully they aren't given the opportunity to permanently paralyse what used to be such a proud institution

Yep but sadly, as the Glazers have shown, there is no effective way to get rid of a terrible owner at this level.

Gazidis was supposed to be the transition, get the structure in place and keep things even. Instead he left a couple months later and tossed a granade over his back. Since then it's felt a bit like a roman tragedy at executive level.

IMO Arteta kept a lot of players he wouldn't have had it not been for our finances and COVID.

I think the likes of Luiz, Willian, Soares and Mari were all compromises based upon our finances, as were the decisions to keep the likes of Xhaka, Bellerin, Laca as we couldn't afford to replace them and maintain our perceived league position, let alone try to kick on for top4.

As a result of our poor recruiting under our 3rd structure, we still have a rotten core from AW's time, and we still have our 3rd Frankenstein squad that is not fit for any purpose.

He does not seem to have the support of those senior players who do not fit his plans beyond this season - Ozil, Luiz, Sokratis & the likes of those who have no future at the club beyond their current contracts - Lacazette, PEA, Kolasinac.

Option - start the players who have performed in the UEL, including Pepe.

The funny thing is it has basically nothing to do with him. He got into a fight with Zlatan when the latter returned and the Milan board backed Zlatan and Maldini instead over Gazidis. That's why they changed their mind about Rangnick, kept Pioli, reinstated Rebic, started playing their youth, etc. Gazidis shit project got bulldozed by people who know better.

You know I find it hard to blame Edu or Kroenke for recent failings. There are a lot of basic basic stuffs that Arteta can't even get right, especially team selections. Nobody is forcing him to play Willian or Lacazette.

Look we are much better than 16th place and 13 points. Our squad with all its flaws is still good enough for top 7. If you handicap yourself picking fights everywhere and playing shit players thats on you

I can’t remember our attack ever looking so poor. Not sure how Lacazette can look at himself in the mirror.

We’d instantly improve if we remove him, Xhaka, Bellerin and Willian from the first eleven.

Time to introduce the Hale End Boys until decent additions can be made

Looking at last 5 games, we have 2nd worst form chart in league: 4 losses and a draw. Only dead last Sheffield United are worse with their five of a kind.

Disagree - the mismanagement of the club has been going back at least a decade and Kroenke has been a major factor in that. The nonsense of Arteta's man management, Wenger's stubbornness and Emery's naivety are minor blips on an override arc going back a decade. Sure, Arteta is to blame for the recent run of form but the bottom line is Arsenal are now worse run than the likes of Wolves, Southampton, Leicester and Spurs.

Yeah agree of course we are very badly run. That has been discussed to death. Be it transfer market, contracts, squad management etc everything we have got a big fat F on it.

But that shouldn't mean our team is so bad that we should be losing 4 consecutive home games against nobodies and be languishing in a legit relegation battle. No matter how much one don't rate our squad, we are easily top 10 contenders. It was just 2 months ago after OT victory Wenger said we are title challengers. This past 2 months failings are solely down to squad and team selection plus whatever team fights behind the scenes that led to the players not putting in the required effort for their manager.

Jury is still out on Edu but we can't argue against some good signings in the past 4 windows. The resources that we are backing our managers with now is at least thrice what Wenger got previously, or rather he didn't bother to demand.

Edu needed to find a way to ship ₃ of Sokratis / Lacazette / Ozil / Luiz / Xhaka / Mustafi, and instead all are still here weighing us down. Instead, we shipped younger players who would have given us midfield options (Douzi / Torreira) and leaned in on Ceballos / Xhaka.
In my mind, someone besides Arteta had to see that the older players weren't going to contribute and only cast a dark shadow. If Edu wasn't the person to see that, then it's on Kroenke.

Pretty much. Is he an overall director of football or is he just a director of day to day football ops. Is he just responsible for making sure the team bus has petrol for the trip to Southampton?
